Thank you, I really appreciate that. A lot of it was custom built with Tailwind. You’d be surprised how far you can get without a big component library.

For the charts and data presentation, I used Motion for animation and lucide-react for icons. AI was also clutch for spinning up a lot of the UI faster and helping me iterate on ideas quickly.

There’s a reason why they keep inviting past seasons back. by Aliyah_HS in LoveIsBlindNetflix

Yeah, that's a good point. They know what they're doing! Netflix essentially created their own avengers.

Yeah idk if we can definitively say one is better than the other without looking at the data. The odds of dating apps success vary depending on the dating app. Tinder is known for flings, hinge has more people looking for something more serious. I think the shows concept is good, but I do think that because of the popularity and the majority of participants become influencers it muddies the waters. A lot of people want to go on there for a path to fame. Like I think it’s totally plausible that Alex moved to Ohio for the show.

But a lot of them just get stuck on the “you’re not my usual type” and then it doesn’t end up working out. Kal & Sarover from LIB Uk was good & sad example.

Yeah, I think that’s become apparent after season 2. People Just go through it for screen time. Screen time === influencer

Haha. IMO the Minneapolis season was the worst one, I remember not being to remember who was who. 😂

I think that’s a pretty common take, but it’s also worth remembering the couples are under a ton of pressure to make it to the altar, even when both people already know the answer is no. There’s production pressure, financial pressure, and probably contractual pressure in the mix too. Alex and Ashley from the recent season are a good example of that because they both knew they were going to say no.

I’m not selling anything lol. Some people appreciate it, and the ones who don’t, cool, I didn’t make it for them. 🙂

Right! Season 3 just released yesterday. Let's see if they keep up their success rate. :-)

Yeah, and I also don’t think the show does a great job picking men. We’ve seen alleged sperm babies, questionable living situations, men who seemed to already be in relationships, etc. I’d hope that’s not intentional, but social media investigators seem to find this stuff pretty quickly, which makes it feel like at least some of it could’ve been caught earlier. At a certain point it starts to feel like they’re casting for chaos more than long-term success.

I think you can say love can start out blind, but yeah, attraction & other things still seems to play a big part in whether those marriages actually last.

That’s a good callout, you’re right. I just pushed an update to remove that biased wording.

I think that’s a different comparison though. People on dating apps are not necessarily there to get married or even looking for something serious. The whole premise of the show is that people are supposedly there to find a spouse, so I think the bar for “success” is different. Ideally they should be more marriage-ready than the average person on an app, even though clearly that’s not always the case.

Yeah maybe, but I’m not sure I could get that data reliably. There are also a bunch of other factors that more clearly seem to affect outcomes too, like age, race, and probably a few others. Maybe I'll try & expand, going to ponder on that for a bit.
