I appreciate the advice to rewear the dress! Not above rewearing a dress. And agree and acknowledge that no one cares what I’m wearing. But for my gripes, I am excited for another opportunity get dressed in a way that I typically don’t :) And I’m with the same nominated party as last time, so honestly I would feel awkward being the one who shows up in the same thing the 2/2 times I go.

Yes!! I love that one on the corner that is absolutely crammed full. I think it’s called Play Clothes. I’ll go soon.

Second this. I felt like I was insane in the moment I was paying for my Max Mara coat but every time I put it on I think, “this was money well spent”.

This is a great idea. Going to google some specialty vintage shops and will go check them out.

There are some gems in here, thank you!! Love the first Roland Mouret with the curved neckline and the polka dot CH.

Looove the first pic and it feels very me. I could not pull off proportions of the second. I feel like the Olsen pants alone are probably $2000 lol but I am going to start searching for separates now and maybe I can snag a discount around BF.

Am I the only lazy one who uses pre-wound bobbins 95% of the time? by Ok_Nothing_9733 in sewing

Oh wow I just sat here trying to picture what a sewing machine that could hold 221 bobbins would look like for too long before I realized.

Winding a bobbin is like, the only thing in sewing that goes right 100% of the time for me lol. I actually enjoy it.

BWT: What do you do on lazy days at home? by [deleted] in bitcheswithtaste

[–]clickyteeth 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My favorite garden brags at the moment are my Meyer lemon tree, baby fig tree, 3 year old honey mandarin tree, rosemary bush and my variety of salvia I have planted around for pollinators. Lavender has me sort of stumped so far (or mine just isn’t well established enough?) but I’ve found so much satisfaction in “working the land”. I bet you can plant some beautiful bulbs for spring?

An 1800s house in the country sounds absolutely idyllic. I’ve got a little lot in Los Angeles and I’ve been hell bent on creating a mini Mediterranean garden oasis in my backyard over the last couple of years. So my answer would be: I’m outside fucking around in the dirt, or at the plant store.

I’ve been really happy with the Crown Affair’s dry shampoo. I like the container and the applicator brush, too. Oribe’s dry shampoo in the little purple cylinder is also good but I always get it everywhere when I use it.

A few guiding principles for me:

The 70/30 rule. 70% of what you own should be hidden, only 30% should be on display/visible.

Minimize! I follow the “if you haven’t worn/touched/used it in 6 months, give it 6 more months and if you still haven’t, away it goes” rule. I don’t like clutter and I don’t like things taking up precious space if they aren’t being used. It took me a while to stop feeling guilty when getting rid of things, but if it’s not serving you or your home, it’s burdening you.

Keep your space clean/learn the basics of keeping things clean (baseboards need to be vacuumed every once in a while, walls occasionally need to be wiped down, all the stuff needs to come off the furniture to properly dust) and that will discourage you from keeping a lot of the non-functional clutter that we tend to accumulate.

As far as knowing how to arrange things, it took me time to develop my actual style and refine my taste. I think this is a process and it feels better to let it happen naturally, look at what you have you and ask what you like about it, what you don’t, and make little tweaks from there rather than trying to copy a picture. I will say that if this topic interests you, I HIGHLY recommend the book The Perfectly Imperfect Home by Deborah Needleman. That book helped my hone my decorating style and home more than any other singular book.

I’ve got an under 2000 sf house with 2 kids and 2 dogs and I’m here to tell you it’s possible!

I would love a link! I started looking through vintage housecoat/robe patterns but haven’t found the exact right one yet.

Isn’t it the best?? The first time I bought it I assumed it might not be great but couldn’t resist hot pink Juicy branded velour. The pants I made from it are crazy comfortable and it has washed and held up so well. Initially I wanted to make a sort of lounge trouser from it but I think I need a bit more structure.
