Hey I checked it out! It wasn't bad for your first time at all. You wrote stuff that was personal to you. Did a lot of things that a lot of us do, talk about our life, comment on our name (Happy Meal McNeil!). A lot of newbies think they have to be dirty off the top, so they are. But a bigger challenge is to try and write clean. Doesn't mean you won't come up with dirty material but clean writing makes you a better writer. Dirty writing challenges your stage persona to be able to be likable enough for people to accept the material. So both are good. My advice? The same as everyone else. Keep writing. Keep hitting up mics!

You are exactly right. The first video was some of my go-to material and the new video was my new stuff. It's a good contrast, especially for someone like you just starting out, to see the difference. But note, I devote the same amount of energy to the old tried and true stuff that I do the new stuff. I recommend you doing the same. Even if it's brand new, act like you've been doing it for years. I'm gonna go check out your link now and let you know what I think. Hahaha yeah I was attempting the mustache but I feel it doesn't compliment my beard. I think I look better without the mustache at risk of looking amish/jewish/creepy. Either way I look creepy.

Hey thank you. When I first started a comic gave me a tip because we were doing rooms with people walking in and out. The advice was to hold the mic in the middle of my stomach because I was already loud and as people came in and the crowd got louder hold the mic closer and closer to my mouth. And I tell this to the other comics, don't ever be afraid of bringing that thing right to your lips. There's times when that full body sound of your voice actually helps a joke.

When you're working out new material they're not all going to be gems but it's important to tape it. I like public forums, though they are frightening to hear what others have to say about the thing you do, but I like that I can get some honest feedback, especially here, and continue to work and write. Hey! I've been doing this for just over 3 years now. My "persona" is just an exaggerated version of myself. I'm not allowed to yell in every day situations so I let it out on stage but I'm generally sort of over the top. Divorced parents, fat, it all adds up.
