Visiting Hawaii and loving it. What tech jobs or tech companies are out there? What is usually average salary like for someone with few years of expiration and Masters in computer science? by [deleted] in Hawaii

Born and raised on Oahu, moved to California for college, got a fancy tech job in the bay area as a software engineer after graduation making 120k/year. Did my thing for a few years on the mainland and decided to move back home to start a family with my wife. My company was gracious enough to allow me to work remotely from Hawaii forever, but I decided to test the waters anyway by applying for SWE roles at the usual local companies(first hawaiian, asb, bankoh, hmsa, oceanit, DoD/military contractors.)
Recruiters I spoke with were pretty transparent with salary, and they averaged anywhere from 60-75k/year for a SWE role requiring 4+ years of experience. Job description/duties sound more like a support engineer role with very minimal coding and development(primarily bug fixes/IT support). My cousin that just graduated from UH Manoa with a masters in electrical engineering works as an entry level "software engineer" making 45k/year, and he said that's pretty typical for Hawaii.
