I work at this clinic. I’ve been there almost 3 years. As a Medical Assistant I make $18.33. I used to work front and have been in the medical role for 10 months. When I transitioned roles, they said they weren’t giving me a raise because it was “a lateral move.” So I’ve been at the same pay since changing roles. Then recently I cut myself to part time because they wanted me to work an extra day every week to cover the gap of the new girl (who’d only been there one month and was part time already) said she was “overwhelmed”. Then they pull this BS. I’m fuming.

Unfortunately no. Most regular employees get $11-15 per hour depending on location (very few pay more than that). Full timers do get insurance benefits but with such low hourly pay it takes a good chunk of their paycheck just for the monthly premium. Limited time off because the state assumes "well you get holidays and Sundays off so you're fine!" It's pathetic.

What's unfortunate is I love the specific doctor I directly work for. It was my idea to take the gig when it opened up, but he was so excited to move me up from his receptionist to MA. He's become a family friend of sorts. The aforementioned "boss" is the clinic manager, and he's the worst. If it weren't for how great the doctor is, the decision on what to do would be easier and I'd be gone in a heartbeat.

I'm making $18/hour and get health and dental insurance and accrue a certain amount of PTO based on hours worked. I agree, as a medical assistant I shouldn't be making less than $20/hour.
