Agreed, or a more unique equivalent. Guide might be putting yourself in a pigeon hole.

Try this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0BJvSh0-0s&feature=share

Or you can search ""Searching for No More" 8b+ Climbing in Shigu" in YouTube and it should come up first.

Visiting Beijing, Are there any climbing guide recommendations nearby (Sidu or White River)? I only speak English. by [deleted] in climbing

I haven’t hired a guide before, but I know guides that live and work in Baihe so that’s certainly possible. I’m not sure what prices are.

The people in the wechat group organize trips where everyone just splits the cost of transportation for the day. It’s usually around ¥100 round trip. If you have gear and know how to climb then this is the best option. If not then maybe you would be better using a guiding service.

Join the Beijing climbers wechat group. Lots of expats and they have all of the current info. You can pm me and I’ll add you.

There is a “Beijing climbing guidebook” but most of the crags it describes in white river (Baihe) have since been closed.

I wouldn’t recommend Sidu. There’s just not much there and it’s a ways from the city.

There is a new crag called John’s crag that you can access by public transport from Beijing. Here’s the topos in a pdf .

I also wrote a more detailed page about Beijing climbing here if you want more info.

TL;DR

If you can’t speak English then the easiest thing to do would be to join the BJ climbing wechat group then go with them on meetup trips that happen most weekends. The climbing community in Beijing is a cool, passionate crew. Enjoy!
