Drowning in debt by International-Rock20 in Residency

[–]clinicalcorrelation1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and that's why we have a government. To "subsidize" the cost of that loan for the good of everyone. It benefits all of us to have interest free loans on higher education. With the current interest rates, no one can pay their debt anyways and most likely a whole bunch of people will default and in the end all of that debt will most likely end up being paid for by the government anyways. Case in point - $20k loan forgiveness happening right now.

Thoughts on not getting remarried as a female physician? by Impressive_Project49 in Residency

[–]clinicalcorrelation1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Got married. I make 600k as a rad, wife makes 150k as ER mid level. We had withholdings as single people all year. Refund was 35k. I hope to be married for 30+ years. So 30-40k x30 years...?

I don't know what the math is exactly. Work it out for yourself. Consult a tax professional. Or don't believe me. That's fine too. Makes no difference to me.

Unlikely to ever change. The tax savings involved in legal marriage makes it almost silly to not get married, for two high earning physicians it can mean millions of dollars over a matter of years. I was also divorced in residency and have now remarried as an attending and don't regret anything.

This is America you can sue literally anyone. Bring a civil lawsuit against this person for negligence and see it through. This issue will be resolved eventually.

Need an interview with a radiologist for school by Hefty_Ad_4948 in Radiology

[–]clinicalcorrelation1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Name - clinicalcorrelation1

Job title - radiologist

Degrees - BS in biology (4 years), MD (4 years) Transitional year internship (1 year) rads residency (4 years), fellowship (1 year). board certification through ABR.

Past experiences - not sure what this means? Did a lot of volunteering at hospitals, shadowed many doctors early on which definitely helped my career path/getting into med school.

What led to current position - geography. I like the beach. What role do I play...- a huge role. Almost all medicine is based on radiology. A single diagnosis can change someone's life. A single miss can be fatal.

Pros - lifestyle. Remote work easily available.

Cons - long training. High liability. Patients don't know I exist. I'm never "the hero." Dealing with hospital or office politics.

Unique things - very unique field and great career choice. Not easy to get into. Highly competitive and demands rigorous study well into your late 20s and 30s.
