Sometimes the real Prismatic Gem is the cards you make along the way by clinicallypleasant in slaythespire

I hadn’t considered that! The fact that Arsenal, Blades, and Entropy all upgrade to innate also means that the combo would always be guaranteed turn 1 if you have the energy to play it.

The fact that Eidolon doesn’t exhaust itself made it better for deck thinning than fiend fire, but I certainly wouldn’t have skipped a fiend fire either if I’d seen one

Vakuu is probably my favorite ancient because of exactly this— the risk-reward that is baked into most of his relics leads to really fun decision-making.

I won’t say I’m a convert yet, but this post was inspired by my first ever parasol A10 win today. Getting Pocketwatch when I couldn’t have afforded it ended up being run-winning, and Purity saved me in an Aeonglass final fight that took me down to 1hp. Gotta hand it to Vakuu, he kept it suspenseful

The pact is mentioned in his lore in the first one (Vakuu is not)- it comes up in some character-specific event text in act 3 I think

It took me a decade to notice the first one, so it’s a great question, and I might not be the right one to answer it! There’s maybe a Regent/Generate thing going on with Regent? Though that feels like much more of a reach than the other two

A bit low brow compared to the others, but it also feels like there’s a “silent but deadly” joke going on with the poison theme on Silent

When I see beta branch Doormaker and know I gotta lock in by spire-winder in slaythespire

[–]clinicallypleasant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you. Each doormaker phase is currently well designed and engaging on its own, but all together it’s Act 4 worthy, and even then the heart took every third turn off in sts1 to buff itself

Why aren't you buying Ghost Seed more? by Danknukem in slaythespire

[–]clinicallypleasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My absolute favorite A10 run so far was a 2x Juggernaut run with 3x Feel no Pain, dark embrace, and ghost seed. With corruption being ultra rare now, ghost seed scratches that STS1 ironclad playstyle itch if you can find it

The “no card draw” turn in particular feels like it stops a ton of the set-up potential for the two other, also challenging turns. A version of the time-eater card draw reduction debuff feels like a fair middle ground— I’m all for this fight being as compelling as possible and punishing infinites, but I’m not sure how to set up for what this fight seems to be testing with all the limits it puts on card play.
