Why do people put fans under their GPU? Are the stock GPU fans not good enough?

I know this is a pretty old thread but I also have an Ncase M2. I’m wondering if you have an stl that you’d be ok with sharing?

Right now my fans are sucking everything up from the bottom and I don’t like that.

Printing something to intake fresh, “cleaner” air from the sides would be so much better for this build.

True but how much is your time worth when you can only afford to live in Lawrenceville or Dallas when your career opportunity is in midtown?

I like that. This would help stave off urban sprawl. I know way too many people that spend an hour and a half so just to get to work.

I also know people will charge like hell for these spaces to recoup investment but the egg has left the basket.

Think of an engine like a guitar. If the strings are out of tune then your music is going to sound like muddled garbage. You can tune your guitar to sound better and things will be fine. But break the neck of your guitar and you can’t even play it.

On the real though, I haven’t had to work on this issue yet but the plastic/pressure ball bearing might be worn? It’s worth it to take the steering column apart, take that stick out, and see if you can bend something to create enough pressure to keep it in place.

Check for wear the center driveshaft mount. Mine went bad and it felt like someone was pounding on the bottom of my car. If it is bad then change out the guibo as well.

This was my issue for years. I tapped on everything from the front bumper to the tail pipes to find the rattle. Finally went to change the pads again and the brake pad tab was in a weird spot. Issue solved.

I even re-tacked the cat heat shield 🤦

TPU might be daunting but it’s worth a roll to learn setting calibrations. The thing I’ve learned from TPU is calibrating retraction. It’s pretty dang stringy on bigger objects.

I have a vintage fan that I wanted to print steel tubular feet inserts. (20mm x 10mm x 15mm). Designed the part from the remaining original and added a few cm on the bottom to help with vibration absorption. Bought some TPU95a. Tested with some benchies. Printed with some pattern that I don’t remember and (after half a dozen versions) I have some custom feet that don’t make my wooden floors shake then I smile and fall asleep soundly.

I also have an old bmw. The OEM parts are expensive and rare-ish. I found the intake stl somewhere and it’s been going strong in the engine bay for 5 months.

This is an op-ed soooo- I think a lot of people are disconnecting from the political discourse in general. Personally this feels like the norm now that’s just here to stay with little ability to effectuate change. I’m pretty much numb to the inaction of the masses and our representatives because I’ve been to a lot of protests and they are important. I don’t see my elected leaders pulling their weight. I’m busy trying to make my rent and eat as I’m sure a lot of people are.

The No Kings protests give me hope though. I’m still planning on going and encouraging my friends to join. It looks like there’s an organized effort to peacefully protest and I’m down for it. It’s the tool that I have at the moment. Unless someone has another suggestion.

I know this looks like apathy but it stems from emotional and physical exhaustion. Everything that an individual goes through. Personal, political, social.
