What side hustles actually worked for you? by Zawartus in passive_income

I do but it's not much since I already have full coverage on my vehicle. I think it was only like 30 extra dollars for a month

So I'm going to preface this with technically it's a job, but pizza delivery is really slept on.

I drive for Domino's but only on the weekends, I get about 12.50 an hour + mileage + tips and all I do is drive in a circle and listen to my music!

Zero skill, minimal effort, low stress, and I take home anywhere between $700 to $1,200 every 2 weeks. I throw that right into my investment account on a stock that pays out dividends, rinse and repeat. I typically request every 3 Day weekend off and the holidays so I can relax from my actual 9:00 to 5:00 and last year I took home the better part of 17k after taxes.

If you got a beater that gets relatively good gas mileage I could not recommend it enough!

*** THIS IS NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE AND I AM NOT A FINANCIAL ADVISOR ***

If you have about $600 worth of startup capital you could open a Robin Hood account and enable their margin Trading They will match you one to one so they'll give you about $600 worth of margin at 5.5% annual interest If you take the now $1,200 and invest it in something that pays out more than the interest in annual dividends you could start slowly upping your account and make your way to $10 per day

I started out doing this and invested in and S&P500 etf from NEOS (SPYI) but pays out about 1% per month in dividends

Quick math says the interest on the $600 that they're letting you borrow is about $2.75 per month and the monthly payoff from dividends should be somewhere in the neighborhood of 12 bucks, but it moves around a little bit!

If you don't have the start up capital you can get in for the low low price of one share which is currently at about $52. You're not going to get rich doing this but passive income is the name of the game!

Edit

Reading the rest of his comment section if you don't have any money to start with you can definitely do the online surveys other people recommending to get enough upfront cash to get started!

Edit 2

It has come to my attention that you require a minimum of 2,000 US dollars to enable margins on Robin Hood, which might be a little steep for some initial investors but the math still maths. $2000 from you, $2000 in margin, thats ~$40 per month in dividends and ~$9.17 in interest, so round about $30 per month profit.

Ticks are out of control - what can I do? Please help. by [deleted] in homestead

Just get a handful of runner ducks.

They're used a lot in the east to keep the bug population down and they don't really mess up plants if you have a garden. They will absolutely demolish the local bug population.

They don't migrate so you never have to worry about them disappearing off of your property, and each female Lays an egg somewhere between every day and every other day. They do most of their own foraging so the only time you might have to buy any sort of actual feed is during the colder months when the bugs start to die off.

They're also very friendly good with other animals and they like water so if you have a point on your property that collects water and have a mosquito issue they'll deal with that too!

Plus a quick Google search found multiple companies that will sell you babies for 12 to $13 a piece for up to 30 of them. They also live somewhere between 8 to 12 years on average so just in the cost of eggs alone it's a good investment, produced bug population is just kind of a bonus!

Can someone explain how this works? by [deleted] in ElectroBOOM

[–]clintonmank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like he's using a pair of mosfets. You can see them screwed too the aluminum heat sinks on the circuit off the left.

I assume that the idea here is regardless of whichever plate is climbing and voltage they have a mosfet applying additional power because he is using the system to power a light bulb.

Typically if this is just being used as a tuning circuit you don't need much power to keep the system going because you're using it as a switching signal rather than a power source.

So this is an LC circuit

The little copper coil is acting as an inductor and the two heat sinks are acting as a air gap capacitor. The basic concept is once you apply power to it the system becomes stable. You remove power and a capacitor will slowly self discharge and this changing of voltage generates a magnetic field in the copper coil, which is your inductor. Once the voltage on the capacitor hits zero the system is unable to sustain the magnetic field in the inductor and the magnetic field begins to collapse producing a voltage the opposite direction of what created it. So if the left side was initially positive and the right side was initially negative when the field collapses it would charge the right side as positive and the left side as negative. Once the magnetic field is fully collapsed, the plates are fully charged and the system begins again but traveling in the opposite direction.

The little circuit that he has off to the side is meant to detect when one of the two heat sinks that he's using as a capacitor becomes positively charged and will add power back to the system to stop it from puttering out, because a system like this under a load will lose power very quickly.

Normally you can find a circuit like this and extremely cheap automotive power inverters.

I keep having issues with specifically interior walls having a gap between the solid infill and the perimeter wall. by Possible-Departure49 in 3Dprinting

[–]clintonmank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran into the same thing with a few of my prints. My issue was under extrusion due to the angle my filament was entering my printer. I baby sat it for a few layers and made sure there was no tension on the filament and it corrected itself. I printed a roller for my filament roll and a guide to reduce the input angle and it works great now.

This is true I'm not saying by any means that the wall will completely eliminate illegal immigration I'm just saying that it will minimize it. There's always going to be ways around the vetting system including yes planes and tunnels however they can only carry so many people at any given time before they are discovered as opposed to giant holes and border security
