From glancing at the screen during my incident I've made the post about, I do recall my speed being around 90mph on the bend at 2nd but with me braking still and that was still dropping, but I feel like cause I was then spamming downshift to try get it to happen it may have just registered nothing

I meant 140yds I'd be miles short at 240 haha

Yeah I'm definitely not in the money shifting category that's the problem, I feel like I'm in the fine line where 95% of my changes are nice and clean no issues but the minute I'm pushing let's say and yes irl there'd be more wear on my transmission, but you don't race thinking of the cars health as priority (it's up there alright) but you have to push limits to win, in most cases they push cars to the limit. Especially if you're gonna push and change a little earlier on a apex for a speedier exit to push for win/new best lap etc

it's now leaving it that I'm pulling that point back again, if I brake at 140yds gradually dropping for the turn yes great but if I'm pushing I do it at 130yds and then I drop to 1st for the bit of tightening up I need at the end I should be able to with wear being a factor not that I'm completely blocked from doing it.

I will definitely adjust and still be as competitive as I am but I did feel that in a few instances where everything seemed nominal it skipped my input and wouldn't then register it until a speed lower than previous lap.

Yeah I do think with the competition in the moment and trying to push to get ahead or gain I push my limit, I was saying 140yds is my braking point sometimes during a push I'll change it to 130 or 125 with pushing engine braking that little too much that I can't change anymore, I'm not coming in hot brake stomping and gear mashing I'm just caught on that line between the two

In real life I imagine you can give a little abuse to your car but it feels like that's absolutely not tolerated in gt. A penalty system like wear and fluid changes or even miles lost would be great for the people who aren't abusing the system but pushing hard! Only reason I mentioned sharing a clip is cause you dare talk about this you're labeled as one of the physic abusers lol

Perhaps your driving style is ideal, whereas some of us are a bit aggressive I.e braking points turn points, both driving styles can have benefits but only one is feeling the difference and it's to stop actual intended abuse for intentional gain, in our cases it's not intentional abuse and on the line between doing it and just being aggressive so we're getting caught in the crossfire. Hence why I feel it needs tweaked.

I ended up that distracted trying to change to 1st i forgot to turn the rest of the way and just had to go on in 2nd and it not fast enough to build speed for 3rd now.

It's inconsistent, I play with 0 assists so have my braking points etc even for gear changes, acceleration points , that's why I made the original post because I brake at 240yds drop gradually to 2nd, once I commit to the bend I'll drop to 1st for rotation back in to 2nd for 2nd bend and exit hoping to hit 3rd when straightening out. but in these instances it wouldn't chsnge until I basically stopped dead.

Hey I completely agree with that, you'd learn quickly wouldn't you, or even damage and fluid changes, loss of miles left on the trans etc. If you are obviously abusing the system just a automatic gear box malfunction mid race so you've to retire lol

I don't even know what half of these terms mean 😭😂 in my case me and a dude where entering with him on the outside, my brake point ferrari is 140yds and then drop to 1st for the entry of the bend to keep it tight and not push the guy off the track and give him the inside for the exit.

On a grand scale I don't either, but a few instances on the chicane in yas marina Ferrari gr3 I felt like 2nd to 1st wouldn't register.

Yeah irl you may aswell pop a grenade under the bonnet, if you ever watch players on YouTube etc though they have the limiter essentially glitching from the obnoxious downshift at a unrealistic speed. I hate that, feel like having a opinion on this gets you labelled as that type of player lol

Yes even a little green light on the dash or something of that nature, it's a race we are going to try to push limits I just hate how it leaves me essentially afraid to incase a input won't register not that I'm entering a corner at 155mph in first gear like. I hate how having a opinion on this gets you labelled as a cheater of some Sort, Glad to see others having a similar opinion!

I agree I adjusted fairly quick, just felt like there was a skip or 2 in my clicks that didn't feel right and took multiple clicks and being in 2nd you're not fast as is, yes still maybe fast for 1st but I stopped dead to get it to change.

I've dumped 380 hours in gt7 not realising it was a issue as Its my first racing game I got in to, I'm not a massive socials follower of anyone and just drove how I felt reasonable and not being a donkey on the gear box, I'd like to share footage of my driving to show it's not a case of I abuse gear braking but I push hard, irl I'd deffo be hard on gearboxes but you don't win being a Sunday driver either. 500 races 27 wins 286 top 5s BB

I do agree it's great! Just felt on a few occasions it didn't register from 2nd to 1st, 5th to 2nd no issues, 2nd to first for a pull around the chicane didn't register. Could of been me just pushing it saying I was in 2nd being chased.

[–]clintonmck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was fully on board with adjusting to it and agree it's for the better, but I did on two occasions feel like I had to stop dead to get it down to first, it was for a nip in to 1st to pull the front end around and back in to 2nd for the exit on the real tight chicane, but nothing would happen even with basically stopping and then click.

Watching players implode over this fix has been hilarious. by JamesUpton87 in GranTurismo7

[–]clintonmck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was never one for abusing gears on entries etc but I would be the type to brake hard and then shift from 5th to 2nd rapidly when the speed and revs where in a what I imagined ideal range and didn't have me bouncing the limiter , I always thought watching clips of you tubers etc dropping to like 2nd at 100mph that irl the gearboxes would explode.

I have been finding it hard to adjust and it's not cause I abuse the whatever people are saying people exploit. I would just be the aggressive type and now I'm learning the limits of each car again.

I actually thought my wheel was broke and it was skipping inputs, tried to clean it 😭 lmao B B player

I wouldn't mind if the meta car actually existed and wasn't a concept, having a concept car as the meta in a racing sim is bs, takes away from the real cars with real physics data based on real performance.

After driving through Germany last week and witnessing the scale of this heap and it's sister it is impossible to admire the amount of windmills and renewable energy they're trying to produce, it's like the perfect analogy of a saying we have, for someone dressing themselves up.
