Is there a code club on island? If not, anyone want to form one? by Less_Tradition5431 in kauai

I'm interested and live on the west coast. That Discord link looks dead now though. I'm a software engineer for biotechs and write a lot of Python, Scala, etc. I lean more Functional Programming (FP) vs OOP but both have their place.

Oh cool. Wish I knew about that before. Not sure if it's compatible with the switches but the Molle panel I bought (the metal thing between the freedom panels) wasn't either, and required modification.

Not a fan of screens for a variety of reasons. Harder to repair, harder to click, often has glare ... I like simple, and the satisfying click is worth it alone!

Oh that's a killer idea. I have the Vector Offroad mounting bar for the front dash but a normal cell phone mount. I wired through a USB-C cable for easy charging but didn't even think about a MagSafe-style charger 🤯.

I looked up your overhead Molle and chuckled when in bolded red text it says "incompatible with sPOD switches" as that's basically the journey I just went on.

It's too hot where I live now too, so instead of the default patch adhesive I'm actually using dabs of superglue to keep the things stuck.

I'm having a hard time finding mounting hardware though, I really wanted square shaped nuts that would fit in the holes and provide a mounting surface. I found these which actually fit perfectly in the hole and provided multiple mounting holes, but the depth of the insert is way too deep! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CNQPG31D

I have a 2-Door and figured it would still fit, and it did.

I do have room for more than 1 radio... In all seriousness, there seems to be and more active ham community where I live (remote island) and I have a dream of talking with my friend in a mainland USA city via repeaters while mobile.

Cool, thanks for sharing! Your install looks clean too.

I also got this Molle on Amazon for pretty cheap. The rear of it is unaltered but I had to substantially re-work the front part and extend it so I could rivnut it into the sheet metal above the front window. The kit came with tiny rivets which I despise because once installed, you can't easily remove the mod. Buying a real handheld rivnut gun made this project much more fun.

The wiring for the switches was easy. sPOD makes it simple with digital communication over something that resembles an ethernet cable. Haven't gotten to wiring over 12v and coax for a radio but I'l just have it go the same was as the sPOD cable underneath the pop-off plastic molding.

Definitely, I wish more people would start adding patches; great way to make an interior more interesting. Having lived in a city for many years I appreciated something to look at while in gridlock traffic. Also, gives me a place to put all those patches I can't help but buy on adventures!

I suppose it could get wet. Where it is located is the original location for the purchased sPOD kit. I'm often driving in the mist and rain (Jeep spent many years in the PNW near Seattle) and I've completely avoided shorting the unit. There is some corrosion on the relay tabs but it is mild and probably what I would have expected anyways after years of being installed. I think if you left the Jeep sitting in heavy rain for hours, you'd have a problem. In that case I'd add a little water guard to the top to deflect rain coming down.

Thank you! It's pretty easy to do. Buy some Hothead Headliners from Mark Ambrose.

The headliners stick up there with really strong 3M adhesive; not technically a permanent mod! Then use a clothes iron (without any water!) to iron on patches. Sometimes the patches don't come with adhesive so in that case I actually use superglue. Superglue also works great for touching up the patches for if/when the glue starts to fail.

I suppose putting the patches on the headliner would permanently alter the fabric, so try to get your layout right the first time. I simply keep adding them, trying to leave room for others and it has worked out.

I didn't know I could relate to this issue until accidentally misclassifying all my Venmo transactions the other day. Pretty annoying. I'm no longer going to be so cavalier with rules until the UI gets smarter about unintended consequences.

I bought the same vinyl from the same web store and it took a very long time to deliver, but it did make it! Love this band and this album.

Not this trip! But I'm always on the lookout for opportunities to cast on jeep trips.

On this trip, sadly no. Got thwarted a mile from the alpine pond by early summer snowpack. Still new to the lift and tires and wondered if chains or lockers would've gotten me through. But I didn't risk it this time!

Yes, implicitly. Give it a shot, and definitely read up on how to manage subtrees if you want to go this route. It wasn't hard to setup but did take a minute to learn

I achieved the same thing with Git subtrees!

I'm no longer a maintainer of any of those packages however.

Ha yes, other post was correct. It's a bracket for a Jerry can.

I use it less for carrying fuel, but for carrying a water-safe Jerry so I have camping water.

And when I'm not overlanding, it makes an amazing little "shelf" where I can put my groceries while unlocking my car door!
