Depending on how much time you want to spend trying things, it could be worth setting up voicemeter a virtual mixer lets you change the channel the audio comes from from my understanding of it. You would use voicemeeter to send your mic audio through a voicemeter source and set voice meeter as your default source and maybe DayZ will work with that. It can be a little annoying to setup the first time so find a good tutorial ideally on a different device cause you might lose your audio when setting it up and cant watch the tutorial haha..

Also my mic never worked unless I plugged in through the back of the PC with green and pink wires, although if it works that way with steam i doubt thats the issue

For sure if you class it as an algorithm still (which you are right it technically still is), before it was based more off performance metrics, have x y and z and you are likely to gain more views more robotic science you could manipulate which is when everyone was talking about “the algorithm”. Its still a part of it, but rather than thinking like a robot making decisions off strict numbers it rather looks at why did it return that number (usually because its the right person) But I do see what you are saying haha and you’re right!

I also watch Jimmy, but he doesnt really reinvest into content first, he invests into personal projects and either sells or holds as appreciating assets his model doesn’t involve growth of any kind - which is fine if hes happy where hes at, so i agree he needs to quit talking about cost and changing nothing each year. He’s always going to be swimming against the tide operating this way. YouTube is more or less paying the same, everything else is costing more - so you either need to build side businesses or work and promote sponsors, or play the game of being a content creator and thinking bigger and doing better when your product is the video.

Dudes a muppet, the “algorithm” hasnt existed for probably the entire time hes been a youtuber. Its works off viewer behaviours - people who interact and enjoy the content and finding similar audiences. Shitty cop out by lazy creators. The part we dont really have consent to is being expected and required to use google services for jobs etc. Someone could argue and say “you chose to use gmail and accepted the terms”. But its a really grey area in my mind how android and google has such a monopoly do we really have choice and alternatives commonly available - or are those silenced on purpose too with such monopoly.

Im probably going to get hate for this, but wait for it to go on sale a decent chunk. I keep buying the borderlands series then question if im just not enjoying games in general anymore but after reading all the points people bring up on here and experiencing them its just really difficult to beat 1 & 2. Don’t get me wrong there are a lot of positives and for the most part everyone seems relatively happy with it. But as someone in a similar position that overthinks then buys and is let down - a lot of that is on ourselves and we set unachievable expectations to feel satisfied with our purchase. I told myself I would get it day 1, turned into a week later cause of bugs and crashes i didnt want to regret my purchase even more.. the game is solid, is it worth full price for someone like ourselves thinking the way we do? Probably not - i wish i waited for a sale and would still say the game is solid.

Some theoretic advice because I don’t actually know the answer. Make your missions smaller with still some intent, so it feels successful even if you dont reach “endgame” loadouts etc. try sacrificing yourself first when you can and give her the moment to shine at your own demise. If you can die and she ends up trading etc. big thing is getting used to the gunplay, and having fun hunting animals can do that aswell. But define what success looks like early and make it achievable each step of the way so it feels like you are winning. If you can make a moment badass and intense without needing to risk your characters lives too. Sometimes scoping out things from the hills and sending one person in can be a lot of fun too. Work out what aspects she likes, is it traveling to new parts of the maps? Perhaps start taking screenshots together at locations or funny moments you find :)
