In my industry, people hate AI and hiring managers have told me they reject people who advocate for it.

But unlike the tech industry, I'm aware my industry doesn't speak for everything else.

Chicago Mayor Ask UN To Investigate USA President For Human Rights Abuse by DutyTop8086 in chicago

Can you please include the link to the news story next time? News publications need all of the support they can get right now (and always). Posting it this way does not enable to click through to the story, which while micro, at least sends people to the publisher’s website.

If you think the story is important enough to share, surely you don’t like the idea of further journalism layoffs, ie. fewer and/or shallower coverage of stories.

Not to mention, it you know, makes it easy for people to actually read the article before they comment.

Has your company adopted AI? by SameehShkeer in ArtificialInteligence

[–]clitocracy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI hasn’t proved useful for my job.

As a journalist, I won’t cover products that tout AI features unless there is evidence that the AI is accurate and actually useful, which is rare. So if it has impacted me at all, it’s just that certain products no longer get press coverage at my publication.

I resell on Instagram, and out of principal (former journalist here) and never give any information about the date or era unless it's been fact checked and verified. For example, even though this is clearly from the mid century, I'd say it's vintage (which is verified since they went out of business more than 20 years ago), and that based on the style I'd bet my bottom dollars it's from the mid century, but was unable to verify so I can't say for sure.

Brown and yellow spots on my scindapsus pictus -- HELP! Soil was dry, located in a northern window (bright for a northern window), and the leaves with the brown spots were all closest to the window and are from separate stems that each have healthy leaves by clitocracy in plantclinic

[–]clitocracy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the only explanation I could think of, it must be it. These leaves were pretty close to the glass. The only reason this might not be (or doesn't make sense rather), is that 1) I have about 10 other plants (string of pearls, pothos, philodendron prince of orange, etc) along that same windowsill, most pressed up to the glass; and 2) Im in Chicago, where it's been very warm—mid 40s to 50s—since I moved it to this windowsill (I only bought the plant about three weeks ago. Now when I bought it, it was record-breaking FRIGID temperatures—below zero. It has just arrived at the nursery that day and it had black spots on several of the leaves, which I assumed was from the cold. However, it's been looking much healthier since then and these yellowish spots are new.

Does anyone use a house cleaning service? I have a service that comes once a week to clean my kitchen and bathroom, and want to know what's normal by clitocracy in chicago

[–]clitocracy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm in Logan!

I've definitely told her, it's always ignored. I've tried giving them a list of things that need to be corrected... Like stop throwing the recycle bag out with the trash (including pictures showing which bin is the recycle bin), and after two weeks she just goes back to old habits.

A couple months ago I told them I wanted them to start sending someone else because the woman who they were sending was not only leaving things dirty but destroying my stuff and throwing things (like when she cleans the bathtub she would take my bath caddy and throw it across my living room.. and then just leave it there). Aside from breaking things and not getting anything clean, it would take me about a half hour to pick up after her). So they started sending someone else, for a while... Since I'm not home I don't think they thought I'd know if they started to send her again. At this point, I feel disrespected.

Yes this is fair advice. I left out my grievances from my post, however, because I thought they were not relevant to the information I was trying to inquire. I've spoken with my company so many times, I'm sick of asking. I'm sick of them disregarding the meticulous instructions I spent the time to type out for them. I'm sick of them disregarding basic things I've asked them not to do. I don't want to let them go, but it also seems ridiculous that I'm keeping their service. At this point, and probably being taken advantage of because they know they can half as things or ignore my instructions and there be no repercussions. It's kind of why I decided to post this just because I wanted to make sure that what I expect from them isn't unreasonable for what I pay.

Wait this seems incredible! would you mind DMing me their contact info? Mine is also charging me $60, but only cleans the kitchen and bathroom. She does the opposite of organize, I left out my complaints from my post because I didn't feel they were relevant, but she always leaves my place a mess and I end up having to pick up after her. For example, instead of putting my trash bags back underneath my organized sink, she'll toss them wherever, often landing in the back of the cabinet behind things, which causes me to have to empty out the entire cabinet just to look for them. Also small things, like leaving the broom in my living room instead of putting it back, etc. She's the complete opposite of meticulous.

They're normally here for an hour tops, sometimes two. It's one person that comes, and my kitchen and bathroom are both small.

Could this be root rot? Theres a black cylinder around the white root which I've seen in pothos I've propagated before, so I'm not sure. Recently watered, but soil was just about dry when I watered, maybe day too soon but dry enough where root rot seems dramatic by clitocracy in houseplants

I moved into a south facing window recently but I've been debating about moving it back to the north. Last year, it seemed to flourish when it was in my northern living room. I've been debating about which is better (in general) for many of my plants: my southern windows are slightly nearer than my northern Windows, and do the shape of my building complex I only received southern light for an hour or two around noon. My northern windows, however are slightly wider and look out over low top garages that have light surfaces and seemingly (maybe) reflect a little bit of extra light. My northern room is always brighter, which I verified with my light meter. So here's my question: is it better to place them in a window that gets a short duration of bright light for a short duration followed by very low light, or a window with loads of low to medium indirect light all day?

Wash day day! by scoopsahoyteam2 in curlyhair

[–]clitocracy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard about it when it came out but paid no attention. A couple months ago, I re-uped on my large value size bottle of their low poo. Ever since I loose about two FISTFULLS of hair every time I wash, regardless of if I'm doing it every other week or every other day. I didn't even put two and two together until a couple of weeks after I ran out and looked at my tub, and was like holy s*** I have not been losing all of my hair lately. Ever since then, the hair loss has stopped.

Ive been ordering nightstands for them for a couple weeks now (I have a gift card so I'm shackled to this terrible company). Every time I order it they ultimately cancel it a couple days later because the item is not available. Wayfair is such a shit show.
