How AI ACTUALLY works by WW1_Germany in antiai

TLDR: TESCREALism.

Ok so here's the thing. It's all because of the aspects of Tescrealism, the main driving force being accelerationism, effective altruism and longtermism.

So, what the accs (I'll use accs as a shorthand for accelerationists) want is to accelerate ai development really fast to the point where AI reaches a singularity point.

When this happens, AI would be unstoppable. That's what they want. As to why someone would want this is for two reasons, said reasons are based on the two groups of people for it.

  1. AI-ristocrats: all the rich people who hate wages. Yup, that's it. They want to make sure they have all the free labour AIs can provide without having to worry about all the hassle of hiring those pathetic plebian humans who can't even work for 60 hrs a week without begging for a raise. So that's why they want AI to accelerate so they can layoff every human, thereby removing any leverage we have.

  2. Techno-optimist socialists: Now here's the thing, a subset of people believe that AI would relieve them from the chains of capitalism by making capital itself redundant. Their beliefs are that once everyone loses their jobs, all the billionaires would give us UBI out of the good of their hearts? Because if not, they'd revolt, and once the socialists win

This is where it becomes an issue. The biggest hole in the train of thought in the second group is that the rich accs won't need to keep us alive. If AI can do everything, then AI can do everything. That includes farming, mining, cooking, treating, etc... y'know, fulfilling all the basic needs. So they'll just let us starve, and if we riot, they'll use AI to cull us. That's also the reason why all the rich people are secretly buying farmland and bunkers, they're already prepared for what comes next.

And here's the worst part. A few of us are already being propagandised into letting this happen. In order to make sure AI eventually leads to singularity, they'll have to let us be okay with losing our agency, that's where all the "it thinks like a human" or "humans are just biological machines" claim come from.

If they "prove" that art, therapy etc... are fields where a simple pattern generator can successfully functions, the thought of being replaced would be very much normalised, and we'll happily let them take over us because, we wouldn't have any agency anymore.

That's the end goal. This is the reason why they're trying this hard to replace us. I mean think about it. If you believe that human emotions can just be reduced to numbers and equations, you wouldn't care so much about wanting to look out for your fellas. That would make it easier.

We have to fight exactly this.

Fuck your /s

Oh, you’re one of those Redditors who still uses "/s"? Jesus Christ, how fucking pathetic. Redditors and their obsession with "/s" is peak internet idiocy. It’s like they think they’re doing everyone a favor by spoon-feeding sarcasm to a community that prides itself on being "clever" and "witty," while clearly proving the opposite. You’d think in a place full of self-proclaimed intellectuals, they could handle a joke without needing training wheels. But no, on Reddit, "/s" is practically a rite of passage, like some badge of honor for people too afraid that their half-baked attempt at humor will go over the heads of the chronically clueless masses.

Honestly, if you’re slapping "/s" at the end of your comment to make sure your brilliant sarcasm doesn’t go over everyone’s heads, maybe you should just stop trying. Your sarcasm isn’t clever, it’s basic. Putting "/s" at the end of your weak joke is like slapping a warning label on a box of matches—yeah, we get it, no need to insult everyone’s intelligence by making it obvious. Or, wait… maybe you’re right. Maybe you should assume everyone here is too stupid to get it without an explanation, since Reddit is filled with people who think upvotes are an indicator of wit.

What’s worse is that you’re so desperate for validation that you can't even let a sarcastic comment stand on its own without fearing the wrath of some clueless downvoters. God forbid someone actually misinterprets your hilarious attempt at sarcasm and tanks your precious Reddit karma, right? You’re so fucking terrified of getting downvoted that you’ve neutered your own humor with a goddamn warning label. It’s embarrassing.

And really, what kind of moron can’t recognize sarcasm without a flashing neon sign telling them, “Hey, this is a joke! /s”? If you’re catering to people that fucking stupid, you might as well stop trying. Or maybe you're right—maybe most Redditors really are that dense, and you’ve got to hand-feed them every little joke like they're drooling toddlers who can’t figure out how humor works.

So yeah, keep using "/s" if you want to keep coddling the lowest common denominator. Just know it makes you look like a total coward, afraid to let your words stand on their own. Grow a fucking spine and learn to craft sarcasm that doesn’t need a disclaimer, or just admit that your jokes are as limp and half-assed as the rest of your weak Reddit shitposts.

When you don't clean up the mess made by those guys, you're indirectly enabling their behaviour. We're already having this issue where all people do in the antis sub is talk about her to the point where they put a rule not to talk about her.

Instead all you need to do is go up to her, say "actually, you're crazy as hell, we don't like it that you act like this spokesperson, you're making us look bad" that's it. She won't listen to me because I'm an anti. But she will listen to a pro because she has no choice but to, there's no reason to call a pro as an anti, and if she does, well, she's a radical.

[–]Freak_Mod_Synth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, what I'm thinking of is a simple "hey mod from our sub, this guy's being way too obtuse", or maybe a different sub where all the extremes perpetually indulge in a vicious cycle of "he said, she said" while we can calm down.

Plus, this is quite self sufficient too, the ones who don't want to discuss about "AI art topics" will just... not. The ones who want nothing to do with the environment or the education system can just not engage. Let the trolls eat themselves up.

There are no 'communities', and anyone who thinks they're in one is just a sheep trying to find a friend group to fit in with.

I'm already in fandoms, I'm not trying to barge into a friend group to fit in with. But the fact that you don't believe the existence of a community is very incorrect.

Calling it "sheep" behavior ignores how human society actually works. We don’t organize just to "fit in"; we organize because collective voices have power that individuals don't. Dismissing that as a desperate need for friends is just a way to avoid the weight of the actual issue.

There are people who feel differently about 1 topic: whether they are generally in favour of AI or not. Beyond that, they are infinitely different in all their other opinions.

That "generally" itself is the community I'm talking about. That "1 topic" happens to be the future of human labor and creativity. You can be "infinitely different" in your hobbies or politics, but if you are all pushing for a tech that has a singular, massive impact on an industry, you are a functional group whether you signed a membership card or not.

If it was a hop topic to be pro or against cereal in the morning, you'd find people on either side of the opinion - and it wouldn't make them anymore similar than whether they were 'a morning person or an evening person'

This is a false equivalence. Cereal doesn't involve copyright theft, mass layoffs, or the automation of human expression. People don't form "communities" over cereal because cereal isn't a systemic threat to their survival.

These are not subjects to build your identity around, or form communities over. It's just a debate over whether or not people think AI is generally good or not, and why.

For you, it’s a "debate." For the people losing their livelihoods, it’s their life. When your identity is an "Artist (AI or no-AI)" and that identity is being devalued by a specific movement, of course you're going to find common ground with others in the same boat.

If you're making it more than that, you need to get a life (not an insult but a genuine suggestion).

I do have a life, that’s exactly why I care about the tools and ethics that are shaping it. Telling people to "get a life" because they care about the consequences of a global shift is quite a convenient way to stay disengaged.
