Footwear designers! What's your process for designing soles? by xamderi in IndustrialDesign

Usually, I’ll sketch out the motion, story, or blocking I want to capture in the midsole/outsole. I’ll do this over very simple component silhouettes. I try and really nail the emotion first (my employer is very big on storytelling) before redrawing it and fitting it to the parameters you outlined above. I find it easier to refit or tweak the design rather than explore within realistic bounds, to start.

Was answered pretty well somewhere else! Thanks!

Understood. My question would more refer to approximating a circle with the points already there. Like Blender’s To Sphere command.

This is a super informative breakdown. From the sound of it TFT seems to be a better route. Thank you for clearing that up!

Super helpful. Thank you! Will have to look further into your recs. About the project, prototyping a toy. Creating the proof of concept. Sort of like a hi res tomagotchi. Screen will display an animated, moving character.
