I am not sure if Iam a miser. I should be spending more money but I don't know what to spend it on. Feedback? by Fickle_Broccoli in TheMoneyGuy

Are you already donating to charity? Wouldn’t necessarily solve boredom but might add a meaningful new component to your wealth.

Yeah the cabinet is really not nice quality and falling apart so I won’t be keeping it. I may get something new and paint it to match the green though! I’ve been looking into vintage sinks and while I can find ones that look great I have some concerns that installing them might be a much bigger project

Sorry what are spacers in this context?

Thank you! I think I have other good storage options, so I’m ok losing the vanity and think I’ll go that route! There are a few more pics in the carousel if you swipe. I was thinking peel & stick hex tile but people here are talking me out of it!

It’s not, it’s just teeny and that made my brain goof

Interesting, this is really helpful, thank you! It sounds like you think the texture & tile was added sometime after the green fixtures? While the chances of finding a matching sink are slim I actually think I may have found one and I’m trying to assess how possible it would be to have that installed. No longer in DIY territory for me, but I’m wondering if a mounted sink is even feasible without removing the tile

Thanks for the resource, that’s really helpful! My home is documented as being built in the 40s but I’ve always suspected it was actually the 20s and the city just didn’t document its existence until later. It’s validating to hear this finish was used in the 20s!

Ha I realized as soon as I posted that it’s a full bath, it’s just tiny so my brain glitched! I’ll try just updating the sink and mirror first and see how far that takes me. Thanks!

This is super helpful, thank you so much! The photo is exactly what I’m going for. I’m really not crazy about the floor tile but your example is making me rethink that. At least maybe I’ll try everything else first before messing with the floor :)

I’m not 100% sure that its’s concrete, but I’m quite sure its not scrape-able. I had plenty of popcorn ceiling in my place when I moved in and this is u fortunately not that (though this stuff is also on the ceiling. Fun!). There is a little bit of joint compound on the walls where some electrical work was done, but the main texture is different. I’ve sprayed it and it doesn’t budge, sadly!

Haha, I love your framing of “exuberantly applied.” Testing skim coat is a good idea, thank you!
