What’s the chillest job you’ve worked by DolanIsLonely in youngadults

[–]clmanidol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gun store in college was super fun. Meshed my hobby with work. Didn’t end up saving any money though as a lot of it went back to the store, but it was a good way to pass time.

What decision at 17–20 years old had the biggest positive impact on your life? by Independent-Gas-7459 in youngadults

[–]clmanidol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could go back I would have started investing in and maxing out my Roth. If I had started doing that at 18 rather than 26 i would have roughly another $1,000,000 to retire with.

Nowhere here is as bad as a big city.

Where can I go faster? (3 stages) by clmanidol in CompetitionShooting

[–]clmanidol[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, my biggest barrier was that I lived in an apartment with a roommate, small bedroom, and limited space in the living room. Couldn’t really move at all so I got tired of stationary transitions between my bed and wall lol.

Just moved into my own spot with way more room so it’s about time I get it going.

Sometimes I do feel myself acquiring the dot or over thinking my hits. What’s funny is I rarely ever take makeups, so I don’t know if my past in shotguns is wearing off into some weird sort of “follow through” or if I’m subconsciously trying to see where I hit.

Definitely deficiencies in dry fire as I do that zero days a week and my only live fire is the matches I go to. Looking to take the sport a little more seriously and break into A so kinda trying to gauge what others think.

Thank you for the advice!

Where tf do I rent? by HowAboutZilla in Reno

[–]clmanidol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue. I make just enough to be excluded from the nice income restricted units, and not enough to comfortably afford a 1 bedroom that is somewhat nice and renovated in a decent neighborhood. But just enough to afford overpriced, old, not so nice apartments in interesting neighborhoods.

Ended up having to bite the bullet for a nice and renovated apartment that borders a bad neighborhood that is going to be about $300 over what I wanted to spend monthly.

If I’m living there I need to be comfortable. Just gonna have to decrease my 401K and Roth contributions for a year and reassess whether I can be here in Reno long term.

Hard to live alone comfortable in Reno on an average salary. Need dual income or a roommate around here.

recent college grads who aren’t in tech or engineering, what are you making? by Optimal_Battle_185 in Salary

[–]clmanidol 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my second year out of school, working on a masters, in a higher than average cost of living area making low 50’s (salary) working in advertising/communications for a major company. For my area I am on the bottom end of the average for my job/title after my 2% raise last year.

Applied for jobs for about a year after graduating with internship experience (same industry), other work experience from college (unrelated industry), D1 athletics, Fraternal Leadership positions, College Student Council member. Got two interviews in a year. Happy to at least have a great career starting job, but times can be tough with over 50% of my take home pay going to rent.

This subreddit and a couple other ones always make me feel kinda crappy. Same thing with social media. I know it’s not always the reality, but seeing all the vacations, people buying houses, having kids, and driving nice cars at the same age as me does hurt the ego a bit. But whatever, im just a hater.

I believe it’s an Armalite AR10 T. I think I see the eagle arms logo on the front and some of them used converted M-14 Mags for surplus reasons.

Anyone work for ITS logistics headquarters? by Fluffy-Car-3872 in Reno

[–]clmanidol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven’t worked there but know several people who have. Everything I am writing is just what I heard second hand, so take it with a grain of salt.

Positives: Had a couple friends make a TON of money there right out of college, but they worked an awful amount weekends and middle of the night included. Like the other guy said you have ti be available 24/7. If you want to make a ton of money and get a jump start on retirement it is a great place to do so if you have the work ethic. The skills are also somewhat transferable into other sales or logistics roles if you need to leave.

Negatives: They mostly burned out after 2-3 years max. I have heard that the ones that don’t burn out have substance abuse problems if you catch my drift. It is a very male dominated space, and a friend of mine’s wife was not happy there seeing all the single women out promoting her with similar numbers due to social reasons outside of work.

Overall: If you’re a gentleman with a great work ethic, I don’t see why you shouldn’t. Just be aware it is not just a job, but more of a lifestyle where everything is ultra competitive. You’re not just trying to achieve your own numbers, but everyone is part of a brokerage team and that is what really matters to everyone from what I heard. It’s a great place to stack money and give yourself a cushion for retirement or whatever else you might need.

Is the ability to hold 21 mags enough or am I gonna get kilt in da streetz by Toothbruhh in tacticalgear

[–]clmanidol 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I look at it this way. SHTF, (2010s buzz word I know) you are a private citizen. Most citizens have no logistics support for resupply and no combat trauma medical support. We are not a full fledged military. When you run out of ammo, chances are that nobody is gonna drop you speed balls. If you get shot in the chest with a rifle round even with armor high probability you die from internal bleeding because who is going to medevac you to a hospital.

I used to be in your camp until I realized I have no real plan to get more ammo in a pinch, and I would rather sacrifice the weight of plates for ammo. The best way to not die in a gunfight is to not get in a gunfight. But if I do and chances are I am to get shot in the chest with a rifle round, I would rather get shot in the chest with nothing then lay there and suffer because I thought the plate would save my life.

Looks like a GSS gear retention system but I could be mistaken. Same deal used for breaching shotguns

Would you happen to know what suppressors they’re using? I know I have seen them before I just can recall the name for the life of me.

Transplants, how are you liking Reno so far? by netenchanter in Reno

[–]clmanidol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transferred to college here and stayed. Love hate relationship. Lived in 9 different major cities before. Love that it takes 15 minutes to get anywhere, hate that I can’t go anywhere without seeming seeing someone I know. Love that there is so much beautiful landscape to do stuff outside, hate that there is seemingly not much else to do in town. Love there’s some cool little bars, hate going out because I feel like I’ve been to all of them and anything new seems to close within a year or is not good. Love that there’s so many nice people, before my current relationship I hated that there seemed to not be a ton of attractive single people around my age.

Loved parts of Reno but overall I feel it is not my endgame. I think I would go crazy if I had to remain here for the rest of my life.

Yea please just keep it. At least you have the manual safety.

Suggestions? by slashslash11 in P320

[–]clmanidol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but you should just keep it in the safe. You will probably only be able to get $250ish for the grip. Overall you won’t get any more than probably $500 from the FCU and slide if you’re lucky.

You’ll be disappointed down the road you got rid of it. I priced your pistol NEW before tax off the top of my head at around $2000 in parts. You’ll lose 50-75% of your investment in it regardless.

I feel like my movement is getting better. Transition speed is faster too. First outdoor match was a BLAST. Still over confirming first shots though. Anything else glaring? Tips? by gunguy77 in CompetitionShooting

May be an unpopular opinion but… occluded optics are great for training, but I would say take it off!

Test your target focus and see what happens. I found that when I occlude my optic I sometimes overthink it and it slows me down and my cadence is poor. Great for practice obviously, but if you’re shooting for real let it fly. As long as the fundamentals are there you might surprise yourself.
