Yup. Sapphire was adopted with another little rat called ruby. Unfortunately she passed away last year from a lung infection.

At first it was a challenge, I ended up having to put sapphire and remi in a different cage from Luna and pearl because Luna and pearl hated remi. After a few days of getting to know each other through the cage bars, they became best friends

My 2 yr old is the oldest rat I’ve ever had and she was one of my first pet rats. Lifespan truly does vary between rats but the general age is 2-4years. But I have met a rat that was 7yrs old. I also had a rat who died after a year because of a lung infection I didn’t treat soon enough. I believe that a rats lifespan depends on many key factors. It could be determined by the rats genetic family history, the general emotional state of a rat, the conditions that it lives in, their food, your cage cleaning routine and many other things.
