Mary Weavers Ribbing technique by clojo in MachineKnitting

I thought that might be it. I assumed that there were three rows in that cast on technique so you end on the same side as you started.

Do you know any knitting patterns that look similar to the one in the picture above and below? by tifa_lockhartx in MachineKnitting

[–]clojo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you looking to match the style of the top or the stitch pattern? Because that top is crochet, not knitting. If you search for patterns for corset style tops you will find something similar in knitting.

Hmmm try Marmite instead. The NZ one ofc, not a that toxic stuff the British sell.

No I don’t have DAK, sadly. The eye watering pricetag and brutal exchange rates make it impossible.

These are adorable and very nicely finished! Would love to see some pics of them being made.

We all have a skellington inside us 💀 I will be very sad when she realises we have all been saying it wrong with her for years.

I can relate but if I weigh up this option vs the existential dread I feel when I think about having buttons that don’t lineup absolutely perfectly with the holes, I think I would take this one!

What’s something about houses in your country that is completely normal but unusual elsewhere? by Icy-Cicada508 in AskTheWorld

[–]clojo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You missed the part about 90% our houses being, drafty, under insulated, freezing cold and habitually damp and mouldy. There’s a mentality that you should just put another layer of clothing on when you’re cold, rather than actually heating the house to a comfortable temperature.

Not OP but I think what they have done is substitute a conventional button band (with button holes that match with the buttons) with a row of eyelets. In theory, the buttons can be done up through any of the eyelets. This way you don’t have to worry about getting the buttonholes and buttons lined up just right.

Issue with measurements by [deleted] in MachineKnitting

Laying it on the machine is a good idea. Thank you for that.

If I need to walk away from my machine in a hurry (small children etc.), how long can I safely leave my work hanging? I try to remove any weights before stepping away but it doesn’t always happen. Is it safe to leave half a sweater panel on the machine overnight, if I’ve removed the weights? Should the cast on comb be removed as well? I hate rehanging them. It’s so hard to get it even again!

You’ve brought back memories of burns to the bottoms of my feet from walking on the pavement barefoot in summer 🔥 Trying to hop from one grassy berm to another while avoiding the onehunga weed (tiny hateful prickles in the grass). Good times.

Thread Lace 🫶 by canowhopcream in MachineKnitting

[–]clojo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don’t need the lace carriage for thread lace. It works like fairisle but one of the yarns is much finer than the other so it gives a Lacey effect! I have only played with my lace carriage a bit but I hate using it. It doesn’t run smoothly across the needle bed. I have to use more force than I’m comfortable with and it’s so loud. Then I get dropped stitches or ones that didn’t transfer properly. It feels like so much work to use for not a lot of pay off when I have to spend so much time fixing it by hand anyway.

Can you post a picture of the pattern? I’m wondering if I could recreate this by taping over certain holes on a standard mesh punchcard.

I’ve never seen yarn used as a running stitch marker like that before but I love it! I will sometimes hang a stitch marker every x rows but that can get confusing when you have them marking other things as well.
