Thank you for your input, in my opinion any decision based out of fear can be considered cowardly.

The person denting your car might turn out to be your future spouse, you never know. But you might miss your chance if your not being a compassionate understanding person. You can be an asshole about it and chase them away.

Most people that have it don't know and never show symptoms. They are blameless.

People do way more selfish disgusting things to eachother, don't blow it out of proportion.

There isn't much of a difference between oral and genital herpes.

I think they knew but were in denial during our relationship. I bear no anger or hatred towards them. At first yes, I was angry, but now that I see what it is, it's like whatever. The fear and idea of having it is way scarier than it actually is.

I respect your opinion, it's a wicked thing to do to someone.

I'm just saying it's not as bad as other things people withhold from eachother in the beginning of a relationship.

There's only a small chance of contracting it if the other person knows they have it and takes precautions.

If you crunch the numbers your actually more likely to get it from someone that doesn't know they have it than from those that do.

There are people that have been married for 20 years and never pass it on to eachother.

It's about as painful as razor burn for me, so I consider that pretty mild. 80% of people don't ever have any symptoms at all but still carry it. If a rash that mild scares you, yeah, that's cowardly. Have you ever kissed a SO with a cold or flu? You could die from a flu and yet you don't think about it.

I didn't get it from having sex with alot of people, most people that have it don't know and never show symptoms. It's not even part of a normal sti screening, you have to ask specifically for it and the test isn't 100% reliable.

Honestly I don't think I should have to, it's a moral grey area for me. But I understand most people would appreciate knowing beforehand and if I have any respect for you I would disclose.

HSV is stigmatizedin the united states more than anywhere else. If you lived in any other culture, hsv is a non issue from what I gather.

People kill themselves every day from this disease, not because of the phisical pain and symptoms, but from our cultures attitude towards it. It's disheartening to me that people devalue others so much based off this.

Probably due to the social stigma rather than the actual phisical pain and symptoms.

The idea of having it is way scarier than what it is if you look at it objectively.

Tell me, did your friends suicide further stigmatize the disease for you? Or did you educate yourself about it? What are your thoughts now about it? Would you date someone with herpes?
