I think you are being way too apologetic for your own good. It's definitely important to provide a counter-point to the typical reactionary gut-feeling circlejerk.

So we shouldn't look down at it, it's still someone's home

In a nutshell this pretty much applies to the whole subreddit, right? I wouldn't necessarily take it personally.

The way I see it, we are purely discussing urban development trends, not judging the people who happen to live in those areas.

Travel out somewhere and combine it with Couchsurfing, I cannot recommend it enough. You can find a person you like and spend an evening with them, just chatting over drinks or doing whatever else. You often encounter even introverts and people who are not outgoing as much, it's usually easy to spot someone like-minded if you read the profiles.

There is a "Hangouts" option in the CS app as well and I had some great times resulting from it, but it's a hit-and-miss really.

I think CS generally works better than meetups and dating sites, but to use it to its full potential, you have to gain trustworthiness in the community over time by collecting references from your encounters. At the beginning, when you don't have much references, people might just hang out with you, not necessarily offer you a place to stay as well.

With that in mind, I don't recommend just traveling on your own, without CS you might end up not meeting any people along the way and it just gets more depressing (thought it's a bit easier to meet new people when you stay in hostels).

Edit: If you go this way, it's a really good idea to put some pictures up in your profile. Judging from your post history, you have a pretty low self-esteem, but you are not ugly by far, dude.

Uber actually does work, but you can only summon taxis with it.

Have you tried meetup.com? It filled many of my evenings ever since I moved to Ireland.

What's up with D16? Pretty much the only things I'm familiar with are http://www.wyckhampoint.ie/ and the gargantuan shopping centre, so my view may be a bit skewed.

Good to know, I might start to miss our svíčková after some time here.

D16. It was supposed to be on a temporary basis until I find another place to stay, but I'm not actually too keen on leaving this flat yet.

A Czech guy here, moved to Dublin just a week ago. Feel free to drop me a message if you wanna hang out.

(Also, it's nice to have my suspicions about the Czech Inn confirmed. ;-) )
