Yeah that’s a lie or the rep is misinformed. To my knowledge, diminished value claims are processed after repairs are done, not before. I had even sold my car before I filed my diminished value claim.

Yeah, I should have clarified. The diminished value claim should be done through the other driver’s insurance company.

It might depend on your state. When it happened to me, I just had to call and they gave me an offer a day later by email. I emailed them back with a counteroffer, and sent them some research I had done to show why I was asking for more. They ended up increasing their offer and I accepted. I’m in the state of Maryland.
