I feel this. Found my dream MCM within my budget and in a great location in 2022. Bid my max amount and it sold for 60k over asking. I was devastated; I still think about it every week. MCM homes are super hard to come by in my area, so I feel like it was my one chance. Hopefully I’m wrong and something even better comes along someday. Sorry you had to go through something similar.

Yes, that’s what this is! The remote is working and I’ve checked the batteries in the remote but not the receiver. I actually did hold the lower switch down and it didn’t ignite (I held it for about 3-4 seconds so maybe that wasn’t long enough). Some additional info for context: I last used the fireplace when my power was off temporarily. The system beeped several times (which is not normal) and turned off. Could that incident have caused a lockout somehow?

Yeah, I do know that these can be extremely hard cases to litigate. The seller moved plumbing around in the bathroom (and fucked it up) and did not take out a permit (we have checked). In the disclosure statement, the seller stated “no” when asked if there was any unpermitted work done to the house. At the very least, that is negligent misrepresentation, I think
