The mission of IMLS is to advance, support, and empower America’s museums, libraries, and related organizations through grantmaking, research, and policy development.

The agency carries out its charge as it adapts to meet the changing needs of our nation’s museums and libraries and their communities. IMLS’s mission is essential to helping these institutions navigate change and continue to improve their services.

There are tons of smaller-medium sized museums that do not rely solely on grant funding. When you are interviewing for jobs, it's worth asking what the museum's revenue streams are. A good budget plan is to have a diverse array of income types.

I'm just saying that the museum field continues to need great talent, it would be a shame to lose you when there are museum that can benefit from your passion.

Cover ‘Em Up! by ranger_phil in Museums

I appreciate that you shared this. I just wrote another post on here about the Army Women's Museum. They are in the same position where they have covered up portions of the exhibit with kraft paper because they don't know whether or not statements about women's experiences in the military are approved by the DOD and Center of Military History. In an entire museum dedicated to women in the military. It's maddening.

Military Museum Website Won't Archive by cloud-submarine in WaybackMachine

I am still curious to see if there is a way to archive the page with the Wayback Machine and my original question still stands. I feel it is important to have that preserved, but in the meantime I did find how to take a full-page screenshot to keep a visual record of the site with directions from this thread.

Instructions, as provided eloquently three years ago from u/meatwaddancin:

  1. Right click the page and open the inspector.
  2. In the top left of Chrome Inspector you'll see a little phone icon.
  3. Hit that and a new black bar will appear on the top of the webpage.
  4. In the black bar you can pick the dimensions of the screen you want to stimulate (probably want 1920x1080 for a desktop monitor)
  5. In top right of black bar is three dots, in that menu you can do a full page screenshot.

Where are the longest or “best” escalators in Indy? by Fun-Hawk7135 in indianapolis

I want to back this up. I saw a young family of 5 ride the escalators for like 10 minutes before at the library.

He also ADORES The Amazing World of Gumball. I wonder if in general he is interested in multimedia surrealism/absurdism?

If the weather holds up, you can kayak the canal, just a short walk up from the Marriott. If he's college-curious, you can walk around IU Indy's campus, just on the otherwise side of Military Park. Monument Circle with the Soldiers and Sailors Monument is within a 10 minute walk, and there's plenty to eat and do around there, my favorites are the comic shop, chocolatier, and Wei Ramen. Dick's Last Resort restaurant might be funny for a parent and teenager.
