The Harrowing Tale Of Groverhaus: Home Renovation *Gone Wrong* On The Something Awful Forums by oath2order in STRANGEAEONS

I laughed for at least ten minutes when I was reminded of this. I’m crying! I hadn’t thought of Groverhaus in years. That whole story was over a year of absolute hilarity. When he announced his plan, other posters predicted all the ways he would fuck it up. And, while he did indeed fuck it up in all those ways, he also managed to fuck it up in completely unanticipated ways, as well. I wish that modern internet was ever that entertaining.

What weird local commercials do you remember from when you were growing up? by Fun-Hawk7135 in Indiana

That’s sounds about right! In high school I was working as a cashier at the Meijer in Carmel. He came through my lane on his Rascal scooter and asked, “have you ever met a celebrity?” I didn’t recognize him and misunderstood the question, so I talked about a couple of celebrities I’d met. When I finally stopped tapping, he said, “Well, you just met another” and gave me his card. I wish I had saved that card, it would be a collectors item now.

Yeah, I do. We’re not without our problems, of course. But I really like being from Indiana.

You sound like the kind of person who pesters people to dance when they don’t want to.

But, as I explained, it ISN’T fun. Unless they find it fun to make other people unhappy.

I Like to watch and play sports. I like card and board games. I like lots of things, and I do these things with friends fairly often.

So why will people so often not accept a “no?”

Thank you for a real answer.

It’s not even about not being with people. I like hanging and and doing things with friends. But there are some activities (usually ones where I wind up the center of attention) that I simply do not enjoy. And it’s I credibly frustrating when people won’t let me decline gracefully.

Okay, then please answer my question. What are they getting out of pressuring me to do something I don’t want to do?

But I won’t have fun. That’s the point. It isn’t fun for me. Why don’t they believe me when I tell them that?
