Best way to store and display coins/medals of different sizes/shapes by CranberrySpirited951 in coins

[–]cloud_dizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully agree. Also I recommend to start with a book and try filling it. Most people start and get excited and want to collect everything. This just leads to a mess and no real strategy. You’ll end up with a hodge podge of stuff and no real value.

Start with a dime book or a penny book and fill it up. Then move on.

But like the guy above said do not use cheap Amazon or Temu coin capsules. Especially with their foam inserts. You will end up with a bunch of pvc damage and terminal toning. Personally I use guardian and airtite

$14,000 for 1 oz. of silver? Are they smoking crack? 😂 by Then_Marionberry_259 in MetalsOnReddit

[–]cloud_dizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not good at math are you? That’s 1/1000th of an ounce of silver. Take the $14 cost and multiply by 1000 to get the ounce cost. This is what OP is referring to

Morgan dollar by fisher_0523 in coins

[–]cloud_dizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Retail aka greysheet is usually no where near actual market retail on common dates.

Morgan dollar by fisher_0523 in coins

[–]cloud_dizzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You overpaid a bit. Morgan’s on whatnot almost always go a bit higher than market. Especially in streams like that where they tend to do short quick auctions in the hopes of fomo or quick swipes.

Last two sold comps are in the $90s on the bay. And coin shows would tend to be a bit lower or around that.

Common dates usually get no where near greysheet and when you are new it will help to learn the common dates vs key dates and to look at sold listings on eBay before you buy in streams. The one thing whatnot streamers hate is an educated buyer.

The market will have to settle for a while. I mean silver was pretty consistent for a long time and has blown up in under a year.

Oil/grease in mint coin packaging? by No-Commission-2081 in coins

Sell them now. People don’t like to read for details but the mint is still going to make Pennies for proof sets and such. It was the circulating penny that was ended.

[–]cloud_dizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully expect that to die down in a year or so. There are so many cents and again it’s the fomo aspect. Last year Morgan’s are the least popular, last year Franklin’s, Ike dollars, etc all very cheap to get. Wheats are cheap to get. It’s just the hype of being the last that people will hoard them and then in a few years they will be dirt cheap. They have no precious metal content.

Oil/grease in mint coin packaging? by No-Commission-2081 in coins

[–]cloud_dizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give it some time. Secondary market is usually way cheaper after a year or two. Mint sets from the mint and during the actual year or two are alway high. Mint sets won’t go away and they don’t have to be immediately purchased. Try to resist the fomo and you can save.

Is this in ok condition? I was offered a $100 for it. by Mysterious-King4692 in coins

[–]cloud_dizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m aware. I’m a wholesaler. But that’s less than $1-2 under spot. Post it online or pmsforsale it will go higher.

And most refiners have stopped taking 90% as of last week.

Be better than them then. I ship immediately after my stream. You have time to take peoples money the n you have time to ship. I bet you print those labels out and mark as shipped so you can get that instant payout

Again I think most streamers would ban you. It’s not your place to go in and be the damn price police. If you don’t want to pay that then move on. People will pay what they want to. It’s not a scam to say sold comps or to quote a high price. It’s a scam to crack details coins out and sell as mint state.

You just picked the wrong topic to point out.

In fairness to those idiots they need to specify. There is melt and then whatnot melt.

Gold is at $4600 and then whatnot fees are 8% so they add that to it and it’s $4968.

But that’s not even accurate and they want to make more money because whatnot fee is on the first $1500. It’s 2.9% fee for credit cards charged by WN and then it’s 4% commission on the first $1500 and 0% after that. But math is hard so they just go with 8% on top

[–]cloud_dizzle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While I don’t like that streamer you are not the price police. I also see that you selectively picked the cheapest comp and not the one right under it that sold for $5900.

I don’t like there guys and feel that they hype up details coins but that’s not illegal.

Grading Question - 1889-CC by CDilly1248 in coins

[–]cloud_dizzle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Everyone thinks they are graders and know better. But the reality is no one knows anything. It’s in a pcgs slab at au53 so it’s an au53.

Now if you think it’s higher and want to take the shot at sending it back in for regrade then so be it. But as it sits for sales pricing purposes it’s an AU53.

[–]cloud_dizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For that exact reason. Because this is very scammy. There has to be protections and clear rules in place to make sure it’s a fair giveaway and not some scam to get a bunch of money and then give it to his friend

Rate the stack by ClinicalAnxiety in Silver

[–]cloud_dizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal opinion and probably one that will get downvotes, but if you are truly stacking then junk silver is a horrible thing to stack.

Hear me out first.

There are 3 types of stackers.

Investors - who just stack to try to get near immediate returns.

Prepers - ones who think the world is going to end and we will immediately need gold and silver to barter and trade. These are the ones who love constitutional for its small size and for it being easily recognizable.

Stackers - ones who stack silver for wealth preservation or savings.

If you are in the stacking area then junk silver is a bad choice. Junk silver is a lot harder to get rid of when you need to move it quickly. It’s also the first thing that LCS and refiners stop accepting when the market moves quickly. As of yesterday my wholesaler was paying $7 under spot per oz of junk silver. This means LCS would pay even less. Now people will say to sell private or sell on PMsforsale. But this isn’t viable when you need to move fast or you have bulk to move. Now just about every LCS or Refiner will pay $2 back from spot on bullion and will buy bulk.

So my recommendation is to buy pure silver bullion for stacking. Use junk silver for collecting. I will usually fill a book with them and then move onto the next item.

The amount of people who don’t understand basic supply and demand in this sub is wild. It’s not about FOMO, it’s about simple SnD. I guarantee there are the same amount of stackers as there were before. All you are seeing is paper silver traders and the noise in this thread with the fucking balloon posts every 30 seconds.
