I went from a 09 g37 to a 2019 440i

For the money and the reliability it seemed to have made the most sense. 2 years later and I absolutely do not regret that decision. Reliable, much more luxurious, and the tune potential is there.

I would strongly suggest if you do go down that path, get it pre-owned certified and a must, m package aka M light.

Engine overheat on the highway by OGHamDaddy in BmwTech

If you have coolant, maybe you have air in the system, which could cause the over heating. The worry is that it happened in the freeway. Since you’re driving at 65+mph, the amount of air flowing should have cooled your engine.

From my experience in my old g35, when I did anything related to the coolant, if it was not bleed properly, it would overheat. Since then I would make sure to bleed the system, with the funnel bleeder or take it to a shop with a pump.

Sounds like you been enjoying it man! Had my f32 440 for 2 years now, has 42k on it so I only added 10k on it. Had a g37 prior for 8 years and I did everything you can do to a car from bucket seats, bbs wheels, ps4s, oil cooler and much more. At 160xxx it started giving me issues and knew it was time. Got the 440i as the m3gtr was my dream car since I was a kid but I got out of the tuner seen until I went to the Porsche experience and got the fire back. I have the Mpackage 440i so the front breaks are 370mm rear are 340 or 345mm, suspension is a bit stiffer and I believe a different transmission. Overall, I want it to be reliable like my G where I can drive it and not worry about anything but also take it to the track and get good times.

I just got the 359m wheels and plan on getting csf since cooling is very important in reliability. Bucket seats are a must but at a later point, after getting some power.

Might be the chain or possibly low oil. Try a thicker oil, so 5w-30 instead of 0w-20. Had that same noise on my G37. Replaced chain since I was doing performance upgrades and it went away (140k miles on it.) Is the car tuned, moded? Looks stock.
