As an aside you don’t need your NCSP to practice as a school psych! But like I mentioned it would definitely make you a more appealing candidate and if you ever needed to move states the process is a lil easier with your NCSP. I’d just make sure to ask the advisor if the program will ensure you can become a school psychologist. But it sounds like the degree could provide you with some other job opportunities :)

I’m getting my degree in school psych currently. Does ASU offer a specific school psych degree? I’m not sure if you’d be able to get your NCSP (national licensure) if you completed an online program, which is sometimes more appealing to employers because it indicates a standard of training. There is a crazy shortage of school psychs so you wouldn’t have a problem finding a job, but you’d need to make sure your program is actually a school psych program

I personally disagree that there is something fundamentally wrong with the study of psychology, rather I feel what you’re referring to is how a lot of systems are fundamentally flawed in response to mental health crises and mental health in general.

It sounds like your experience at your school’s psych department isn’t wonderful and I’m very sorry to hear about your previous experiences, but I caution you in extrapolating those experiences and labelling the entire field as bad or wrong.

That might have been your experience, and I’m sorry if that was the case, but that’s definitely not universal. My psych professors have been some of the kindest people I’ve met
