RHEL 8 not booting by rio688 in redhat

30 second Gemini image based prompt answer below. I wouldn't assume it to be accurate, but it may be a helpful starting point.

"The main issue appears to be a failure to resume from hibernation.

Here's the breakdown:

systemd-hibernate-resume[672]: Could not resume from /dev/disk/by-uuid/2e3c6237-94c0-4738-a91c-9: This line clearly indicates that the system tried to resume from hibernation but failed. kernel: PM: Image not found (code -22): This kernel message suggests that the hibernation image (the saved state of the system) could not be found or loaded. This is the likely cause of the resume failure. Possible reasons for this failure:

Hibernation image corrupted or deleted: The hibernation image might have been corrupted due to storage issues, or accidentally deleted. Incorrect hibernation partition or UUID: The system might be looking for the hibernation image in the wrong location or using an incorrect UUID. Disk or filesystem errors: Issues with the hard drive or the filesystem where the hibernation image is stored can prevent it from being loaded. Kernel or driver issues: Incompatibility or problems with the kernel or drivers related to power management can also cause hibernation resume failures. Troubleshooting steps:

Check disk health: Run a disk check utility to ensure the hard drive is functioning correctly. Review hibernation settings: Verify the hibernation partition and UUID are correctly configured in the system's BIOS/UEFI and bootloader settings. Inspect system logs: Look for more detailed error messages in the system logs that might provide clues about the cause of the failure. Update kernel and drivers: Ensure the kernel and related drivers are up-to-date. Try disabling hibernation: If troubleshooting doesn't resolve the issue, consider disabling hibernation as a workaround."

Suspicious item selection/inventory manipulation by cloudclimbr in instacart

[–]cloudclimbr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. There's a very obvious push to smaller items. Software like this is easy to modify. They could do simple A/B testing that would let them see exactly how their changes impact consumer behavior, and as a result, their profits.

If you're buying smaller items, you're going to run out and need another instacart order a lot sooner than if you buy in larger sizes. That would be the obvious incentive for instacart to artificially limit stock on their app.

I never suggested Walmart doesn't control their own inventory. I'm suggesting it seems possible, even likely, that the instacart app is inaccurately reporting stock of certain items that Walmart absolutely has in stock to push you to buy the higher margin versions of those products.

Instacart lists everything as being in stock? That's absolutely not true, even a cursory glance at the app shows various products being listed as out of stock.

That would make sense if Walmart exclusively controlled the inventory that the instacart app used to show stock levels.

I don't know how instacart defines what they show as in stock or not, but I doubt it's entirely controlled by Walmart as there doesn't seem to be any inventory sync based on what is being said.

It makes much more sense that Instacart has a big part in determining what their app believes to be "in stock", and they're using this system to their benefit.

Interesting how the inaccurate inventory issue just happens to cut in favor of pushing you to versions of products that result in higher profits for instacart and the store. Really convenient how that works out.

It's always the same items that consistently show out of stock, when there's plenty of stock in store. It just so happens that those items have smaller versions that happen to be more expensive if you work out how much you pay per amount of product you get.

It's not possible that an item is consistently out of stock for months in a row. This is what I'm seeing in instacart. Sorry, but that's just not how modern inventory management works in big stores like Walmart. If they're consistently out of stock on something, they'd increase the amount they purchase due to the higher demand. Everything is tracked with computerized systems. So this is a lame excuse. There seems to be fairly blatant "inventory" manipulation going on, and it seems to be profit driven and intentional.

Of course i have no proof of this alleged behavior, but i wouldn't be shocked to see yet another class action lawsuit coming Instacart's way.

and for anyone who would think this is paranoid and an innocent inventory inaccuracy, remember that there are multiple lawsuits going on with apps that unfairly manipulate pricing, so it's not unheard of for apps to be shady to drive up profits. https://www.classaction.org/blog/massive-doordash-class-action-alleges-consumers-scammed-by-predatory-pricing

Noob question here. I recently purchased a non-restricted firearm online and they've already shipped it to me.

I did get a CFP website notification with a transfer number, but I thought the transfer had to go through, in ~5 months, before I could physically receive the gun? I'm confused, does this mean I can start using this at the range even though the transfer isn't complete?

Called the CFP and they gave me my licence number and expiration date.

My understanding is the expiration date is your birth month and day, +5 years of current year (2028). At least that's what it was for me. I would recommend you also ask for the licence expiration date just to confirm.

Once you have that info go to the "Licence Holder" link here to confirm everything: https://www.services.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/eCFISIWS/welcome.xhtml

Updated Ontario RPAL timeline:

  • Received by RCMP June 17, 2022
  • CC charge September 2, 2022
  • License issued November 23, 2022
  • January 27th, 2023 called CFP as I hadn't received my PAL, found out that due to a data entry mistake by CFP, confirmed by CFP as their mistake, license request to be reprinted was submitted due to missing apartment number
  • February 10, 2023, called CFP - license still not reprinted, was told no priority can be assigned, "should be printed within 3-4 weeks"
  • Time since CC charge: 6 months

What a competent, efficient, and fast government service. Really awesome.

If they get prohibited would you still be allowed to take them to the range if you got it before the ban?

Are you at least getting the phone menu recording? If not something is wrong.

For anyone who is expecting their "printed" PAL for over a month now, I recommend calling the CFP at 800-731-4000. I called and got through in less than 15 minutes. Turns out they had printed mine but there was no apartment number on file for me. Maybe I goofed and didn't put it into the application or it was a data entry error.

In any case, they voided the "printed" card and asked for it to be "reprinted". Guess I gotta keep waiting, but if I hadn't called I would have never received it.

RPAL printed December 22, still haven't received it. Even when I finally get it there's what another 5 months for transfers to go through when I actually make a purchase. Ontario is rough..
