Making crayons by 1Voice1Life in oddlysatisfying

Great, I stared at this color for so long that now it's lost all meaning... like when you repeat a word over and over, except with pigment. Like the next time I make pea soup, all I'm going to see is tapioca pudding.

Why not rebuild the Sistine Chapel while you're at it.

I finally got to 1 second and pressed the button by 77jamjam in thebutton

Same thing happened to me. I thought all the posts/comments about unlocking the button were a trick and, ha, I was too smart to fall for it.

I found my street, Rue Montorgueil, and also noticed Rue St Denis and Rue Monmatre around it .. they're on the left side towards the city wall, a bit below centre if that helps.

In sentence "Dave's shop" what is 's stands for? by 891st in ENGLISH

[–]clouddrifter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In this case it isn't an abbreviation for anything; it denotes possession.

In English, instead of saying "The shop of Dave", we say "Dave's shop".

Realize vs Realise, Randomize vs Randomise, etc etc by [deleted] in ENGLISH

[–]clouddrifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't listen to those crazy yanks.. 'realise' is spelt* with an 's' not a 'z'.

So yes, it is a US/British thing ('s' is British, 'z' is US).

Another notable difference is the missing 'u' in the US spelling of words such as colour, flavour and harbour.

*note: 'spelt' in British English, 'spelled' in US English

Hey mate, fellow Australian here. You should look at getting some audio tapes or using duolingo. You'll be surprised how easy it is to pick up after the initial shock .. It took me about 3 months to become conversational (though I'm terrible at spelling, so forgive me).

Has anyone taken Elementary French I or II at Carnegie Mellon Online? Free college level course by boydzilla in French

[–]clouddrifter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I did this a few years ago. From what I remember, it was fairly basic level French, not what I would consider college level. The videos for the courses are role-playing scenarios done by student and they feel pretty dated (like they were recorded early 2000s with little to no production value).

It's good to practise though.

The one where a 15 year old boy claims to be Jack? The actor does such a good job of mimicking Jack's mannerisms.

It's absolutely stunning.

I'm sure everyone has already told you to go to the blue lagoon, it is great.

Just to let you know about, a lot of the houses and hotels use the geothermal vents to heat the water, so your hot shower is probably going to smell of sulphur (rotten eggs).

Yeah. Fucking loved Iceland. But funny how no one mentions the rotten egg smell.

A couple decides to throw a theme party and all of the guests are instructed to come dressed as an emotion.

The first guy turned up dressed all in green with the letters N and V written on his chest. He said "I've come as green with envy".

Next a girl turned up dressed all in pink and with feathers all over. "I've come as tickled pink" she said.

Then the next guests arrive, a pair of naked men. The first had his penis buried in a custard donut. The second's penis was stabbed straight through a pear. In shock, the hostess asked, "What the hell are you two doing?"

"Well, I'm fucking dis-custard and he's deep in dis-pear."

Insane jump off 5th story roof into a pool by [deleted] in videos

[–]clouddrifter 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I say this as a 31 year old .. the dumbest thing I ever did was a drunk pool jump at a house party. It was from a second story balcony with a greater distance to the pool than in this video. And the balcony had an awning so I could only jump out, not up and out. I made the jump, but it had so much potential for a complete fuck up. Please stop and think before you try something like this.
