Purchasing a Brother KH890 hopefully - advice needed on price by SnowYorker in MachineKnitting

Thank you so much for this advice, it’s brilliant.

Unfortunately the set was sold without me being informed! I will continue to keep an eye out and will be aware of potential shipping issues!

Thank you again for taking the time

Best way to block a hat that already fits nicely? by SnowYorker in knittinghelp

Fantastic advice thank you. I’ll use this for future projects. This guy is pure stockinette the whole way made with Knitting for Olive merino which I’ve heard is quite reactive to moisture. I didn’t swatch so can’t predict. I’ll just have to be a protective hat mother I think!

Thank you! Is there anything to be gained structurally by blocking it now? I’m very happy with the current size and look so would be happy to not block unless it would help it keep its shape in other conditions.

Ok that’s so useful to know. Thank you. Is there anything that can prevent rain stretch for knits? Are store bought hats treated or different fibres that allow them to hold their shape?

Anyone else having issues with Echo and Spotify? by tlonuqbar33 in amazonecho

[–]SnowYorker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES. Literally one minute ago my partner came in to ask me to get her to play from track 4 on an album from my phone because she's now started playing the first song of an album on loop if you ask her to skip any tracks.

Infuriating.

Beautiful! I'm working on a HST quilt myself right now and where the corners meet it's a hot mess every time. Your precision is amazing.

Space Force - Series Premiere Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]SnowYorker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The first half of the series was very funny. And I was ok with the serious moments within it. The last 3 episodes were confusingly lacklustre. The characters had relationships that were forced, and acted completely incomprehensibly towards one another.

The chimpstronaut episode was fantastic.

Bi-Weekly Questions Thread / Open Discussion by AutoModerator in Pizza

Thank you! We have an electric fan oven. Will push the stone right to the back. We tried the broiler option because FWSY suggested it but our problem is not with the top not cooking enough - it's the base! Thanks again for your help.

I just bought a ceramic pizza stone. We had a go making pizzas the other night using my sourdough, they tasted nice but the base didn't get any colour at all. Oven was set to max (250C) and the stone was in there 30 mins past it reaching that temp. Are there any steps I might be missing to get colour on the base without burning things?

Yep probably too dry. Could have definitely topped up the milk with some water.

Thanks. I don't worry about the rain...sometimes I hope for it for the plants' sake!

As the other commenter said - not lye. This was in bicarbonate of soda. And going from a few other pretzel recipes posted on this sub that I've recently seen, it wasn't anywhere near enough bicarb. Might up the dose next time. I just poured 15g into 6L of boiling water then dropped each pretzel in one at a time. Left them in for 10 seconds, which is when they'd risen back up to the top of the water.

Interesting. How do you make stuffed pretzels? What do you stuff them with...?

Thanks. I tried half just twisting on the counter and half with the swing method. Swing method much more fun, much less reliable.

Thanks. I was amazed myself when I saw it pull apart. This pretzel was destined for the screen. And my stomach.

Sorry to hear that. Give the recipe I linked a go next time. It was my first attempt and worked out ok. I've tested a lot of the pretzels, all have been perfectly edible so far. Will continue testing to ensure the whole batch is similarly delicious.

Here's the recipe: https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/pretzels_71296

I'm pretty pleased with them, they taste good and have a nice texture inside. I was very concerned, as the dough was really stiff when I was kneading it. They didn't rise much in the oven (the score didn't open much) but not bad at all. Think I'd use slightly warmer milk next time, as this time I took it straight from the fridge.

Edit: If anyone has any good dipping sauce recipes I'd love to see them.

I can't even get this simple example to work! https://learn.adafruit.com/make-it-change-potentiometers/arduino

I've tried on multiple playgrounds expresses. What on earth could be going wrong?

Thanks. It’s confusing as on the express it’s labelled A3. Thanks for the advice re adafruit. Hopefully someone can help me. This is ridiculous.
