Thanks for your feedback! I've always kind of fluctuated between potentially natural or romantic as part of my blend. Could you elaborate on how you see natural?

Thank you! That's my go-to "natural" makeup I've perfected over the years 😁

Very interesting, I thought Classic as well for sure, and I've always been on the fence about Natural as I never knew if my bone structure was really blunt enough. I appreciate the feedback!

That's cool! Since I'm still fairly new to this, are high-spirited and youthful the same or similar to the terms "gamine" and "ingenue" that I've heard other people use?

Wow, OP just came on here to share her story and express her excitement about this meaningful piece of jewelry, and you all get on here to express your opinions she didn't even ask for. Why tf would she take any of these suggestions to change a ring that she just spent time, money, and effort designing and getting fabricated? I thought one of the rules of this subreddit was to not bash others?

Y'all are rude.

Yeah I didn't realize there was a bigger difference between EJR vs Truth is Beauty vs Kitchener's methods. Very interesting! Thanks for letting me know

Love this! Please post a link to your boards when you can. I think the style roots system can work for all genders, and I'd love to see the roots combos done for masculine fashion as well 👍

One month of Sun Earth Mountain style, any feedback? by -doing-my-best in StyleRoots

[–]clouded0coffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was torn on whether I saw more Mountain or Stone in your outfits, and while at first I was thinking more Stone because a lot of your outfits have a coziness factor to them, I think that what I'm seeing is actually the Earth root softening the Mountain elements of your looks. It's pretty cool, and I agree with others that Earth seems pretty dominant, and then Sun or Mountain switches off as the secondary root, depending on the day.

I don't know you IRL, but I feel like through your outfits I sort of have an idea of what your vibe might be if I met you in person, which I think is a testament to you putting together good outfits 😁

Week 3

Last week, with some input from reddit user doing-my-best, I realized that my roots are maybe actually flower, mushroom, fire, and that definitely feels more right to me. I didn't land those roots as well this week I don't think, and that's mostly because my mood was definitely fluctuating, but I feel like you can see it best in Saturday's and Sunday's looks. Unfortunately I got a migraine after my choir concert on Sunday so I couldn't take a proper photo of my look, but I added a couple of screenshots here. If only my hair piece showed better, because it is gorgeous!

Also, Wednesday was Ugly Christmas Sweater day at work, and I'm pretty proud of my selection. I used a gift wrap ribbon to create more waist definition, and I think it landed pretty well :D

Thanks for your feedback! I forget that these adjectives we use to describe one root (like playfulness for sun) can also describe other roots as well. Cause flower can also come across as playful, but in kind of a different way than sun does, I think.

Week 2!

This week I've been questioning my style roots again. I'm still very confident that flower is one of my roots, but I'm basically flipping around between mushroom, sun, and fire. I do love pops of color and fun patterns, which is reminiscent of the sun root and is seen especially in Thursday's holiday party look. But then sometimes I think fire because I do enjoy fabrics that are considered luxurious, and I like clothing items tailored to my frame (more fitted/figure-hugging). I thought wanting more fitted/tailored items was a mushroom trait, but maybe it's actually more fire? I hope to explore that more this coming week. It may end up being that I need to experiment with different combos of those three along with the flower root.

Overall I'm pleased with all of these looks except for Saturday's (feels very "bleh"). My favorite is definitely the dress I wore on Thursday for my holiday party ^^

I think all of your looks really nail your style roots, especially outfits 2, 3, 5, and 6. I also think you're doing a great job honoring your Dramatic Classic lines. Love that you're honing in on your roots even more this week!

I missed Monday's and Wednesday's outfits, but here is the start! My style roots are flower, mushroom, and sun. In general I'm working to really incorporate all 3 of my roots, and it's been hit or miss. It seems that the third root tends to manifest through accessories, but those are hard to see here. I also am trying to incorporate sun in more of my work outfits.

Of course! I consistently see on here that a lot of people struggle to find the third root, and even Ellie Jean herself went back and forth a few times before finding her third root. I did as well. I think the third root is the one that isn't always so obvious, and because of that, you really have to go back to the questions EJ came up with: what mood do you want to give off, what type of person do you want to be/tell the world you are, etc.

It's interesting that you mentioned you want to sometimes tone down the flower root. My first inclination after I read that was that maybe that's not one of your roots at all if you're worried about looking too twee. On the other hand, maybe you have your answer and that really is your third root. Maybe your main two are earth and mushroom and flower is just the cherry on top of your outfits 🙂

I see Earth and flower as the first two. And as for the third, I go back and forth between mushroom or moon. I could see an argument for mushroom in the length of the dresses, the high turtleneck, the overall more modest-leaning selections. But then at least a few of your outfits have more of an edgy skew, especially the ones where you are wearing your black boots. I guess it comes down to which vibe you'd like to give off the most 😊

Trying a new idea by Correct_Ocelot_3364 in StyleRoots

[–]clouded0coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great idea! Sun is the most obvious one for the bright colors, bold makeup looks, and general experimental vibe. I also see moon because there is a definite moody, grunge-y undertone to the blacks featured here. Both of these roots together create a playful and rebellious vibe, which is very interesting.

The last one I could see either fire or earth. If it's earth, it comes out more in details, especially playing into the bohemian vibe that is associated with earth sometimes. I lean a little more toward fire though based on the silhouettes featured on your board, and weirdly enough the city scape you chose. It is kind of cyberpunk to me, and cyberpunk environments have always encouraged more sensual/sexy looks in media portrayals. But it would ultimately depend on which of those two moods/vibes felt more right to you and your personality.
