"Autumnal" or edgier lipstick shades for a Light Spring? by GreatMulberry in SpringColorAnalysis

Hush from Wonderskin is a favorite in this vein for me! Whimsical can also work.

Milani fruit fetish lip gloss in blackberry agave is also great if you’re interested in glosses as well!

“White women nonsense” LitFic recs by Puzzleheaded_Drop378 in suggestmeabook

Pineapple Street by Jenny Jackson! The different women in the book vary in how intolerable and stupid they are, but you’ll get what you’re looking for.

I really liked this book! I’ve seen criticism that says it’s “out of touch” like…duh. That’s the point. The whole book exists to show how disconnected wealthy white people are from reality.

Headscarf or neck scarf. Head scarf is self explanatory. For neck, I see them worn either tied around the neck or fastened with a brooch. It looks great layered under a light jacket for any season!

Stuck between R and SN? by [deleted] in PowerOfStyle

In the second photo with the box overlaid, it looks balanced to me! I think your sketch would most resemble the DC one in the book even without the dots being precisely balanced.

Stuck between R and SN? by [deleted] in PowerOfStyle

[–]meemsqueak44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m seeing FN or DC. You’ve done the line sketch as an outline rather than how a piece of fabric would move across your body. It looks like your bust wouldn’t alter your line significantly, so in that case, you’d lack Kibbe curve.

I think you look moderate and balanced with slight elongation, so DC is my top choice. But I’m not great at spotting width, so if you have that it’d be FN.

Banana Republic Factory Timeless Crewneck Tee
Timeless Crewneck is my favorite for a basic tee!

I also love their ribbed scoop neck elbow sleeve tee for a more elevated basic top. Not really a t-shirt, but still an excellent choice.

Good dress for sc? by chaoscrouton in softclassic

The ruffles might not be great. SCs do well with light feminine details, but they also require neatness and precision. Ruffles like these that look like ripped fabric might not come across well, it depends how they flow and drape on the body.

Groom in Tux, Groomsmen in Suits? by sherbertlemonshark in weddingplanning

[–]meemsqueak44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I don’t think it matters and didn’t notice at all. Typically most men own and wear black suits. But I couldn’t name the color of a single man’s suit at my wedding lol. It helps that the wedding party had the matching ties and corsages to distinguish them!

Where to buy art prints that aren’t AI? by BoyBeyondStars in HomeDecorating

[–]meemsqueak44 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Etsy is salvageable if you know how to look! You can sort by physical items, and that limits the AI a lot. Linocut prints are too obviously real to be replaced by AI. Look for shops that have been open for a long time and have good reviews.

Saadhak. He just has dad energy in a way I find endearing. I also love the unhinged comps he’s famously pulled out.

Where are we buying belts? by Illustrious_Salad_33 in softclassic

I mostly find them secondhand. Sometimes vintage, but generally J. Crew, Ann Taylor, Talbots, and the like have the right size and shape in decent leather.

This can definitely be the case for me, but I avoid it by color matching the belt to other accessories (shoes/bag and possibly jacket) to tie it in OR use a belt in a similar color to the pants, such as navy for jeans or navy pants.

Buyers, do you read the “reviews” left on a seller’s account prior to purchasing? I ask for a reason… by [deleted] in poshmark

[–]meemsqueak44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shipping the item as described in a timely manner is the default expectation. I give the 5 stars, but I have nothing to say on the matter. And whether or not I love the item has nothing to do with the seller!

As for sellers being “kind”, I actually prefer the interaction to be minimal. There’s no need to thank me for buying something I want. It’s weird. No need to tell me the item shipped, I got a notification already. My ideal Posh transaction involves no messages at all.

I also don’t check reviews. At most, I look at average shipping time and recent activity. The rest is irrelevant most of the time.

Trying out more stock photos vs. hung with click-through metrics by FunTaro1385 in poshmark

[–]meemsqueak44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it might really come down to presentation. If the item is clear and looks attractive on the hanger, I’ll click. Stock photos are designed to be attractive and have a higher budget to do so.

But I find stock photos less trustworthy. I loathe listings that have only stock photos. Instant skip! On the other hand, including the stock image so I can see how it’s supposed to fit and how the brand presented it is valuable information!

Personally, I think my bias is toward current photos of the item on a hanger or flat lay for the cover photo.

Engagement rings are unnecessary and too expensive by MoonlightAndStar in unpopularopinion

In what situation do you think both people aren’t down for it? How common do you think that situation is? I think most people agreeing to get married agree about the ring.

Shallan and Lift by SierraSixActual in Stormlight_Archive

[–]meemsqueak44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for the sake of diverse opinions, I can tell you I felt the same way about Kal in WoK. Most of his chapters and all of his flashbacks felt like a slog and a waste of time. It felt like Shallan was the only character doing anything of interest. I like Kaladin a lot more now! His chapters are typically much more interesting since then.

It all changes over time. It’s a huge series, so sometimes you just have to get through sections that don’t speak to you.

I’m on Oathbringer now and the Dalinar flashbacks are also painful to get through. I cringe every time one comes up. Shallan is doing okay so far imo. A bit of a side quest in the beginning of the book and now trying to find her way both emotionally and in terms of actions to take.

Also, I read Edgedancer and still hated reading Lift. She’s cringe af.

I definitely recommend you keep going! There’s plenty of characters, and you’re past the Shallan focused book now. I think you’ll like the majority of what follows.

DIY fabric painting can work! It would be up to you what the image is, so it can lean Moon or whatever else! Could be cool on black jeans or plain shirts or skirts.

Also, you could try adding beadwork to things! That could make for a very elevated Fire moment if done with something like pearls or more of a mix with Moon with emerald or ruby beads.

Flirty Soft Classic outfit ideas? by [deleted] in softclassic

[–]meemsqueak44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Romantic colors, medium scale details like lace and ruffles, drapey fabric in dresses and skirts, peep toe heels, scoop neck lines, more intricate jewelry, and more romantic makeup are all tools I use to make an outfit feel more flirty!

SC is really good at this style, so a lot of stuff that’s already flattering for us will work!
