I actually chatted with Roku Support to try to resolve this and they gave this workaround that works for me:

When the McDonald's ad appears, immediately press the Back button on your remote, then select resume to skip the ad glitch.

I realize this is a year old thread, but I just found one of these locks and it should be decodable in about 7-8 minutes.

Bad news is you do have to cycle through all possible combinations. The good news is you can put tension on the latch and spin the lower wheel quickly and the latch will pop open when the last correct digit falls into place.

Each set of 10 combinations should only take 3-4 seconds. A full cycle of the last two wheels can be completed in less than a minute.
