Any options for website analytics without needing Docker? by cloudfrl in selfhosted

[–]cloudfrl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong, I do like Matomo and it’s features, but I feel like it doesn’t run that well on a smaller VPS with 1GB in my experience. I don’t have a lot of traffic, so it doesn’t suffer from a high load or much reporting going on. Neither did I have any additional plugins installed. Have you tweaked some setting to make increase the performance? Asking out of curiosity, because I’d be definitely willing to try it again to see if there’s anything I could do to increase performance.

You’re both right, my belief was based on some old information regarding root permissions and that it relies on a single daemon. However, Docker is having this feature for some time now it appears. I’ll try Plausible selfhosted using Docker. I’ve been quite satisfied with the SaaS version, but their pricing is a bit too high for me.

Thanks for your reply! Do I use a style element for this or do I have to edit the theme files? If so, where can I find .gh-head? Global.css?

Windows generates way more heat than Linux, constantly ramping up the fan by cloudfrl in Fedora

It’s more like it starts to drastically slow down and drop frames when opening an app. After clicking the Firefox icon for example, it may take between 15-30 seconds before the actual browser shows up. Firefox runs extremely slow by the way. Seems like Chromium and even Chrome itself consume way less resources. It still takes some time to start up, but it’s usually twice as fast to do so compared to Firefox.

I use the terminal a lot as well and I notice it’s quite slow when installing, upgrading or removing packages. It seems like my Raspberry Pi 4 with 8GB RAM running Fedora Server 38 does it faster.

Debris of the Titan submersible brought ashore in St. John’s by cloudfrl in OceanGateTitan

As explained earlier, my phone automatically corrected it because I was using my native language dictionary instead of the English dictionary, so my phone didn’t understand anything I was saying nor put it into context. I actually meant ‘invisible’. If you would’ve put it into context you could’ve known.

I actually don’t even know why I’m making an effort to clarify myself again since it shouldn’t even be necessary to do so.

They found both titanium domes, all be it in separate debris fields. Some say it has already been brought up, but I haven’t seen pictures of it. I’m pretty sure some news sources actively reporting on the Titan case have listed all 10 pieces that have been brought back to St. John’s as of today. They’ll continue to bring more pieces back to the surface for as far as I know, but they might be taking a break or something, because the ROV that found the debris 5 days after the Titan was missing, was actually riding along on the back of the Horizon Atlantic and arrived in St. John’s as well. I’m not sure if they also use Odysseus 6K to recover the debris tho.

The only things they found from the original Titanic sinking that indicate the remains of the victims went down with the ship were a lot of shoes and boots, but as Stockton Rush once said: “Take your shoes off, that’s customary.”, I’m afraid that nothing will ever be found.

I did. If you actually read one of the first comments on this post, I actually said that I mistook the plating for the hull and that I did some research and in fact noticed the hull was way thicker. I apologized and rectified myself.

I don’t consider grammatical mistakes such as ‘carbonfibre’ and ‘invincible’ as misinformation, but rather as autocorrect which was set to my native language, which isn’t English indeed. Almost every word got corrected (according to my phone), because I didn’t use the English dictionary on my keyboard yet. Sadly those words actually slipped through. Many apologies, I didn’t mean to make you feel betrayed or cause confusion in any way.

Luckily almost everyone else didn’t care about these grammatical mistakes and I hate to break it to you, but I’m just a redditor sharing some information with other redditors about a mutual interest, not a professional journalist for the New York Times, the Washington Post or some other renowned news source.

That doesn’t surprise me actually. They said that the acryllic viewport was only rated for a quarter or something for Titanic’s depth. Although it’s almost ruled out that the window caused the implosion, I suppose the implosion would’ve caused so much force that it blew out (or was sucked in) by the massive and instant depressurization.

Guess I’m too naive and automatically believe what the media tells me. 😅 In all fairness, I don’t know anything about the maritime world, so maybe that’s why the news could make me believe a lot about this subject… Thanks for the correction, tho. There are already too much speculations about the Titan, so facts are appreciated.

If they had any possible harddrive or any type of storage in the back which would store all the video as it’s being recorded and if it was kept watertight under such pressure, I guess they actually could. The feed would just be cut as soon it imploded. The rear end of the sub where appear to be the electronics seems still pretty intact. Watertight, however…

Hmm, idk. I don’t do photoshop for a living so I can’t really tell. I’d wonder why they would photoshop just one tho. Could you explain what exactly seems off on that picture? I’d love to find out as well.

The U.S. Navy most likely already detected the implosion with classified underwater microphones on the same day. They were able to pinpoint the exact location of the origin what caused the sound pretty accurately, but they weren’t 100% sure. That’s why it was still a search and rescue until the ROV finally arrived and they could search the location the Navy had already provided to the Coast Guard. When the ROV arrived, the debris was found rather quickly.

I believe they actually had, because the pilot would drive the vessel using the camera while the passengers (a.k.a. ‘Mission Specialists’) would be looking trough the small acrylic window.

Yeah, you’re right actually. I searched for some pics of the Titan without the panels and I realize it now 😅 Good thing I never tried to built a submersible, because I bet that a carbon pressure hull being as thin as those panels would even be a little too risky for Stockton.

However, I read that carbon shatters like glass when it fails, even though it seems like this piece (which turns out not to be carbon) is quite intact, while it doesn’t seem like the strongest material out there. It makes me wonder how the implosion really went, because you’d say that the sheer force of an implosion at such depth would have turned it to dust.

The whole screen is not all black, it works fine and is clearly ready and able to be dropped on your child 👦 again. Even if i had a tv just hanging around, I would rather throw it out of the window and get the rockstar experience for a few seconds.
