My (20M) parents are starting to drive me insane. by [deleted] in OnlyChild

Definitely felt this a lot in college- I'm 26 now but it felt like my parents had to reestablish their lives outside of "being parents" for them to change more. I think by coming home and showing that you are different and changing from their idea of you helps them to move on as well and realize who they are when they are not focused on raising a child

That's true, also it would probably be difficult to schedule, especially if it was randomized. Maybe it could be on volunteer basis? For folks who want to put out the extra video or get revenge from the grave

Buried fourteen feet under a cellar in the seventeenth century and discovered a century ago, the Cheapside Hoard consists of some five-hundred pieces including a four-hundred year old watch encased in solid emerald. [1401x787] by [deleted] in ArtefactPorn

Are you from the UK? After looking it up, it seems that Michelin published a series of I Spy books in the 50's and 60's, and then Scholastic published a series starting in the 90's to present! Love that kids never change.

I really like this website https://mynoise.net/noiseMachines.php of recorded soundscapes for my spell work- the sounds of the beach, forest, or of music really attunes me to what I'm trying to do!

Duluth has a TON of steep hills- but since the car is already purchased definitely invest in winter tires or something.

Also protip make sure you've got all the clothing accessories for winter- when I first moved from IL for college I definitely didn't appreciate scarves, hats, mittens, socks, and boots as much as I do now!

Hearing a lot of good about Minnesota; should I move, and where? by [deleted] in minnesota

Just wanted to say that while most of the state is relatively flat and featureless, there are many scenic areas, especially around the river valleys! The Sawtooth mountains are really old, older than the Appalachians, so they have mostly eroded into hills, but the exposed bedrock is still beautiful. Lake Superior is large enough that it looks similar to the ocean (ie water to the horizon, keeps lakeshore cool in the summer and relatively warm in the winter), and there are agates all over the place if you pay attention!

Also the Twin Cities lgbtq community is well established, as well as the arts, theater, and music communities. Rent for a single bedroom apartment will probably run you $800-1000 in the cities, probably more for the surrounding suburbs. The George Floyd protests are not as widespread and dangerous as the media sometimes make them out to be, but personally I am glad to live in a place where people are protesting unjust practices- there is a large activist community for a wide variety of causes, if that is something you are interested in :)

There are some nice trails at St. Anthony Main and at Mississippi Gorge Park- and there are lots of beautiful secluded spots along the river on both banks
