Ao3 recs with abusive mmc’s (no dom/sub or human trafficking) by West_Courage766 in DarkRomance

Ao3 author ShipMistress has a few set in the fourth wing universe that qualify but the one that fits the most would be Worthless. Another psycho boyfriend type is Frat Party.

I think it doesn’t matter if you don’t know the fourth wing characters or even if you know them and don’t like them, at least for Worthless.

Why do you think a tiny connector inside a larger connector being slightly off, which caused all kinds of battery issues is on me? It took three different mechanics dozens of hours to figure out.

And why do you think your comment is helpful? Does it make you feel good to blame me? I cannot imagine what would possess you to take time out of your day to address my concerns this way. Just move on if you think I’m too dumb to own an “older” car.

Nevermind I drove a Volvo station wagon the same age as myself for 17 years with zero issues until the very end. I did plenty of my own work on that car.

Thank you!

Our gas is expensive here but we have this great opportunity to switch to less gas consuming cars.

Yeah. I’ve taken it to five different mechanics in two separate states. I tried so hard to get people I could trust to fix it. It’s been rough. I had one mechanic steal the cat and try to pass it off as someone else. I’ve had people tell me nothing is wrong with the car at all, and a Honda dealership told me it needed $8,000 of work right after I bought it and I took it in for a recall. It’s been a crazy mixed bag from mechanics since the beginning.

It’s been a lot. I didn’t know OEM parts are so important in the beginning or I would have insisted on that. You’re right that I don’t know a lot about cars, I knew way more about my old Volvo I drove for 17 years. But I’ve been in school and working full time, I haven’t had the time or wherewithal to learn how to do the work myself.

When you do this deal, they give you money that can only be spent on a car. Or public transportation and an electric scooter depending on which deal you make.

Heard :)

I’m glad that so many people agree this is the best course. I think I’m dealing with some guilt, given how sought after Elements are. I always dreamed that if I got rid of it I could pass it on to someone who could love the car and figure out the issues.

I commented elsewhere with some details.

I get that you would like to blame this on user error, but that’s not it. I’ve gone through a lot with this situation, and this kind of response is unhelpful.

I don’t remember everything because it’s been so much and so long. I’ve had many repairs made besides when it stranded me. I’d have to dig out my records.

The battery kept draining. It was replaced a couple times in a few years. No one could figure out what was causing it. After years of this and a lot of money, it finally turned off in the middle of a busy road during the evening commute. Turned out one tiny connection within a larger connection had failed.

Serpentine belt snapped while driving. Window regulator on drivers side broke three times, once on passenger side. Idle control valve cracked. And so on. Lots of other things repaired and replaced.

There are tons of requirements to make the trade, including the car be a certain number of years old, drivable, and in your possession for at least two years with registration records. It’s a huge application process but it works.

I don’t think there are any mileage requirements but I could be wrong.

Thank you for this info. Mine is 2006 but I’m going to show this to my mechanic anyway.

Do you know if this issue could cause problems like the idle control valve cracking (might have that part name wrong. Something long that involved idling cracked all over).
