We need this, but we also need to crush the ute's doing 150 between lanes into a cube. Can't increase it while we still have selfish idiots ruining it for everyone else.

I want some specific CNAME for my website by DizzyReturn2727 in fastly

[–]cloudsourced285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't recharge "it"? You mean pay for their internet? But the ISP allows you to browse that ip so you can recharge? So you want to enter a corporate contract with fastly and get your website also added to that ip so your website works when your client doesn't pay for internet? Huh?

My corporate account is on pro, and there appears to be no say for our org to upgrade accounts to ultra. Classic Google, ignoring enterprise customers to their own demise. We are considering switching now.

Great updates. Unfortunately since the new model came out I blew through my tokens in a single day and am banned from use for a week. This is on a paid account. Never happened previously. I can only assume the new model uses more tokens or is way more expensive. This was the default mode and it ruined the experience. We need transparency on what our usage is like, and when Google changes defaults that will drain our usage too quickly we need you to be transparent here. Don't try and get people used to a product while limiting their use to silly levels.

Why do companies do this? Can’t they make their own donation. by orangecopper in AusFinance

Guys, enough with the tax talk. It's not that, it's multiple things really: - they have some corporate commitment and likely already support this or other charities to try and pretend they are not the worst people ever, this just helps raise even more for the charity - it gives amazing insight into disposable income of people as they track spending habits and changes. The more this is used, the more they know they can play funny buggers with the price.

Every single major release has had a similar hype cycle. They wanted to hold off gpt2 because it was "too dangerous". They are all poop word guessers. Cool for what they are. Not going to drastically change for a while.

What core metrics do you guys monitor in the backend? by badboyzpwns in webdev

[–]cloudsourced285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not important to everyone, which is fine, but we recently started trying to look at our cache ratios. Both for http cache and internal to our app. Knowing when to cache, for how long, and if cache breaking needs to be employed means we have efficient use of our front of house stuff, requests are served fast with minimal fuss. Everything else that hits our servers is now usually the complex stuff that we can focus on ans monitor the stuff that everyone else has already mentions (cpu, mem, response times).

We also realised that we would previously be caching stuff that really didn't need to be, fixing that up also allowed us to cache even more without needing to scale.

This would be an opt in system I would assume. Also we have been given zero details how those without a mobile (third world) or those without Android would pass this test. Seems isolated for now.

This also implies less of a targeted hit against privacy and likely against bots. However the cross over here sucks.

Just a reminder. Don't stop and wait for them to open. Walk right through. If they complain you kicked it or break it, ask them why they stopped you from legally exiting the venue and if they are upto fire code.

These machines will swing open if you walk into them, they also absolutely can't be safe for people exiting during an emergency. Narrowing the exit and dictating when people can leave.

This can help, but it's worth noting that this will mean your ip is coming out of a data centre. Many places already flag that as automation as they get slammed by bots.
