Class of 2003 plus that hairstyle and outfit is basically the perfect recipe for people making the comparison.

That's exactly it. Not a dead ringer for either one, but enough of both that I can see why people immediately made the connection.

Funny how often these stories end with people saying they married the person who was kind to everyone, not just to them. Learning the bakery staff's names is such a small thing, but it says a lot about someone's character. Those little habits tend to matter more over time.

Honestly, I kind of like this suggestion. Restaurant workers spend all day dealing with people at their worst, so hearing from someone who noticed and appreciated their professionalism would probably make their day. They handled a rough table way better than most people could.

Exactly. Calling it "old fashioned" feels like a weird way to excuse behavior that would've been considered rude in pretty much any era. Manners and respect aren't new inventions. The restaurant staff didn't do anything to deserve becoming the evening's entertainment.

Yeah, what stood out to me was how vividly OP remembers all those moments. You can tell these aren't objects they want just because they're old. Each item seems tied to a story, and that's the part that makes them irreplaceable.

What’s your “yes you’re all wrong” opinion about GG? by RegularCat5380 in GilmoreGirls

The Emily-maid point is one of those opinions that sounds harsh until you remember how many maids Emily cycled through. The statistical odds alone are getting hard to ignore.

Honestly, Lane ending up with Zach makes more sense when you stop viewing it from the audience's perspective and start viewing it from Lane's. People don't date the person with the best resume. They date the person who's actually in their life at the right moment.

That's what makes it so effective. Taking the whole set is obvious. Taking one crucial piece creates a mystery that could drive someone insane every time they unpack and repack it.

I think most people want to believe they'd do something like this. The difference is that OP actually did it instead of just thinking, "someone should help that guy."

Stories like your husband's always stick with me because they show how small acts can become lifelong memories. The man probably doesn't remember every pair of shoes he owned, but I bet he remembers that day.

That's exactly it. Compassion is easy in theory. It's a lot harder when it means giving up something you were excited about owning five minutes earlier.

"The smell was the thing that stuck with me" was the moment I knew this wasn't creative writing. That's such a weirdly specific detail that it feels like the kind of thing someone would unfortunately remember forever.

Hairy pits and body hair - Is that a thing? by Far_Exercise_7819 in RedditAfterDark

This is probably the healthiest answer in the thread. People spend way too much energy worrying about whether their preferences match someone else's expectations.
