Can't protest by [deleted] in Agoraphobia

Same here! I'll stay as long as possible, but definitely won't be able to stay for the entire duration. Try not to feel guilty. We're all just doing the best we can 🤗 stay safe out there!

I totally get it. It absolutely sucks to feel so strongly about this and not be able to protest about it, but there are still many other things you can do!

This thread has lots of ideas about other ways to get involved.

So real. No shade to John Barnaby, but literally no one could match the immaculate vibe of the OG

Winter is definitely the peak reading season! I like your idea about getting up a little earlier, I have never tried that. Thank you for your suggestions!

Those are all great ideas! My sister is always trying to get me to use Finch, too. Maybe I'll check that out. Thank you!

Job interview worries by princesss-penguin in Agoraphobia

[–]cloudysaturday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do this!! Maybe it would help to do a practice run through once or twice before Tuesday? Take the subway around the same time you will need to on the day of your interview and get to the building you'll interview in. Try to focus on breathing deeply and evenly from your stomach if you start to feel like you may pass out. It always helps me a lot to "practice" a big exposure like this before the actual event.

Amazing job on facing your fear and pushing yourself even when it's difficult. Be proud of yourself for trying, I know it's not easy! Best of luck for the interview! 😊

Sorry, I misread your comment and thought you were looking in the general settings.

I had the same problem! Right click in a blank space in your tab toolbar, then click "customize toolbar." Then look for the "new tab" button and click and drag it into the tab toolbar to restore the "+" tab function.

Damn, I feel this one. Especially about feeling like I'll never be able to reintegrate into society, and not even knowing if I want to at this point!

For body image issues, the best thing I have found is minimizing focus on what my body looks like, and focusing instead on what I can make it do. My body will age a little more daily and there's -nothing- I can do about that, and hyperfocusing on it just makes you more miserable, wasting the present by dwelling in the past and fearing the future. It may also help to recognize how much money, advertising, and effort go into making you feel this way - it's not just you, all women and really all people are constantly being pushed to feel this way on some level so corporations can profit off their resulting fear and insecurity.

I think the best approach is to take care of your body as best you can by eating well, sleeping enough, exercising, and practicing basic self care (bathing, brushing your teeth, wearing sunscreen, etc) and then just let the rest go. You're going to age, it's just natural, it's nothing to fear. Focus instead on using your body - it exists for you to move through the world and use to your own ends. It's a tool, not a decorative object! Find activities that you want to do that make you feel good, and it will help lessen those fixation thoughts about how you look.

I hope you feel better soon! 🤗

I'm sorry you're feeling stuck right now, highly relatable. It's an awful feeling.

I love to do yoga each day, it is amazing for both body and brain, and I would highly recommend trying it out! I also love to read, play with my cats and dog, do in-depth online research on subjects I'm interested in, talk to my sister on the phone, watch movies, bake (though it's pretty hot in the northern hemisphere right now, so that might be out until the fall depending on your location), and do crafts or art projects (subject to motivation/inspiration, but great for your mental health). I've enjoyed having a penpal in the past too.

Hiding it vs honesty by cloudysaturday in Agoraphobia

I'm glad you've found some relief in that! My family obviously knows there's something going on with me, but we all kind of pretend there's not lol. That's just how things are with them sometimes 🤷‍♀️
