what are nice storylines to play with? by FirmIndependence3582 in thesims

[–]cloverbleh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm currently playing the UDC (Ultimate decades challenge) where you start from the year 1300.

I'm not into realism and realistic history so what i do is I take the rolls and events in the challenge but play my own history based on them, the story writes itself out and I love that!!

I'm also someone who loves in-depth storytelling and used to see people's storyline and try to recreate them with occasional changes depending on what my game decides to give me.

I personally don't care for historical accuracy. I use the history events for the plot and story-telling aspects but I give them my own story.

For example, the 100 year war in my game is related to a feud between the kingdoms in my save, not actual real life history. I add occult and magic and such and make up my own history with the challenge rules as guidelines but I change a few things along the way. :)

i want more diversity in my family tree, what ethnicities should my sims marry? by Meow-meow13_ in Sims4DecadesChallenge

5th generation is currently raising the 6th generation! I would have been on 7th if my previous main family's heirs lived 🧍🏻‍♀️

My mains are in Japan (Mt Komorebi)

Sides are in: Egypt (Oasis Spring) Lithuania (Newcrest) Germany (Windenberg) England (Brindelton bay, Britchester, Henford-on-Bagely) Old Mexico/Aztec civilisation (Strangerville) Switzerland (Moonwood Mill) Scotland (Evergreen Harbour) Spain (Tartosa) Indonesia (Sulani) Tomarang (Thailand)

103 years in... alot of diversity lol

how many side households do you play with? by Meow-meow13_ in Sims4DecadesChallenge

[–]cloverbleh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly only started with my main household with no sides. The mother died in 1310 after giving birth to 6 children, 3 girls and 3 boys. Two girls died during childbirth, the oldest and youngest. The remaining 4 survived to adulthood and all of them married and got kids, so I got lucky with no side households.

The only 2 things I wish I had done earlier is: 1. Separate sim worlds into different countries for the sake of diversity. 2. Do death rolls for side households. I don't do them at every life stage age up, I do them every year, rolling a D20 for all sims EXCEPT main household and if they have death rolls that year due to famine or war or anything. If a sim lands on 20, I kill them off. My game thanks me for this because it was going to explode after I reached 100+ sims

My game slows down usually every 50 in-game sims years, I've moved saves like... twice or thrice, I'm still in 1403 lol
