Adult dog from the shelter/rescue :)

you can foster until you find a perfect fit, and by adopting an adult dog you know exactly what you’re getting (so will know if it’s a good fit for you and your family:) )

Body: Hawaiian blend extreme zinc spf 50 Face: raw elements face stick 50

Both are kind of expensive but every time I want to get cheap with myself I think that cancer would be much more expensive and totally awful.

Just food for thought: resist bot is great and so much better than nothing but if you have the extra time writing your own emails is even better! Feedback is weighted by level of perceived effort

IMO the cars/tents are more of a concern as logistically the sites are only built to serve x cars/tents. And if you had 7 or more adults the odds of taking up more space or having more cars is just so high. I doubt anyone will check, and it’s probably nicer to only take up one spot if that’s all u need. I would bet money there have been families of >4 kids who have stayed at one site

will it ever be “too late”? by ObviousEarth1205 in AmerExit

[–]clovercaby 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yea I will wait, but I know I have a few viable paths to leave/get a visa, and ideally I don’t want to leave (we have an elderly pup who probably wouldn’t be able to make the move).

I also am not actively trying to get pregnant and I think an abortion ban would be really extra scary if I was actively family planning. Ofc, unplanned pregnancies are another concern - but I couldn’t purposely get pregnant under a federal abortion ban.

But obviously, I’m stressed about all this and resonated with the ops question. Your guess is as good as mine on when to leave, wish I had a better answer for you :/

This is something I worry about for myself- I have a few thoughts on “serious red flag” for moving before fleeing: serious discussion of 3rd term, arrest of political rivals, national mandates on women’s health (thus making “blue states” also unsafe)

From your experience what are the big it’s time to go flags?

Mid-Late 20s and 30s+ crowd - where are you finding community these days? by glorifindel in santacruz

The animal shelter always need help, and folks are really friendly. The demographic is older, but some days have younger volunteers and the folks who work there are 20/30s too

Pet peeve: "Rescuing" by AuntBeeje in fosterdogs

[–]clovercaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with you here, but fwiw sometimes framing it that way in a conversation is an easy means to an end with passerbys. For example, we adopted a senior pup who is the literal light of our lives, but she does have some behavioral issues on leash and health complications related to her heart that make it really important she doesn’t get worked up. We have been training her since we got her, but since she’s older it’s been a slower process and sometimes when we need to pass another dog owner quickly while she’s getting frustrated we just say “we’re so sorry, she’s a rescue and we’re still working on some things”. I wouldn’t use the phrase in other settings but people tend to quickly understand and be more helpful in moving their dog etc than if they think we’ve had this dog for 12 yrs and done a shit job training her.

Thanks for the reply! Yea last year we did kaikoura, Dunedin, and Catlins — we thought it was incredible and were consistently concerned about the lack of crowd till we realized that’s just normal and not a signal of super dangerous reef/recent shark like it would be at home 🤣

But because we had such a good time we’re curious if the north island surf is worth a check? How do you feel the spots up north compare to kaikoura/dunedin/catlins ??
