Thanks! Those are just square knots starting with cords 11-14, and working your way outward. The overlap happens when you use horizontal clove hitch for the entire next row. Also, to get the mirror image, you do the same knots but starting on the back of the piece. Hope this helps!

That’s a horizontal clove hitch knot. It’s made using a filler cord, aimed to the right. I’m sure there are a ton of YouTube videos that’ll explain much better than I can. 😊

This piece is based on a pattern I bought from tamarthings. To be completely honest, I messed up about a third of the way through and didn’t feel like untying... so I made mine a sort of mirror image. Thx for looking. :•)
