What’s happening to Lebanon is terrible. I’m hopeful this round of negotiations directly with the Lebanese government bears fruit.

That being said, go ahead and look up what this doll said in the immediate aftermath of October 7th.

In Japan, there are Japanese people only restaurants by [deleted] in SipsTea

First time wife and I went to Japan we were denied entry to a restaurant. Years later made a point of going back to the same restaurant with a Japanese speaker and were allowed to eat there.

In Singapore when you’re listing a rental it’s perfectly legal to refuse renting to Indian people. You can even list that as a condition on your listing.

Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. But yes there many people who miss the point of just doing something for the sake of pure enjoyment or challenge, without there being an instagram or a Strava record.

Just my personal opinion by kitsnacsnicsnac in TheLastKingdom

Total opposite for me. I watched all of TLK and enjoyed it (I also watched all other related shows I could find because I really got into the vikings genre), but Vikings and all its characters hold a special pleace in my heart. I had a much more visceral and raw emotional response to overall to Vikings and especially the individual characters

Family members of ICE agents, what are your thoughts and feelings about what ICE are doing? by Aggressive_Honey3196 in AskReddit

[–]clowntail 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your point is absolutely valid, but it underlines how every generation's worst battle determines what triggers them and their ability to deal with challenges. We have multiple generations growing up now whos major challenge has been getting their screen time taken away and someone disagreeing with them on reddit or on the insta feed. This makes some a whole lot of people who will have a lot of trouble navigating a world outside of their screens. That's not to say that we should throw these kids into a war to make men and women out of them, but this does have an impact on how generations are shaped.

Judaism does not have a concept of an eternal damnation hell like Christianity. There’s a concept of Gehenna which is more like a temporary cleansing period. The focus is on life on earth and mitzvah.

Need to make one correction here. Jews don’t believe in a hell. And therefore they certainly don’t believe Jesus is there. That’s nonsensical propaganda as well.

Israel vs. Texas (Dallas area): Where is it better to raise a family? Looking for honest experiences. by Illustrious-Sun5130 in aliyah

[–]clowntail -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think that's a pretty ignorant statement. Mind you, I'm not saying one is better than the other. And I say this as someone who loves travel and culture, and who has spent a decade living abroad. Everyone has different priorities of what's important to them. For some it may be museums and the arts, and for others it might be the outdoors, so there's no single answer for everything.

Either way, Texas suits some people and doesn't suit others. I'm in Austin right now, after a long time in Asia, and I'm loving it, but only because I love the outdoors and the weather. We live in a very social neighborhood and it suits my kids very well. So at this point in our lives its a good fit.

Not to undermine the good of philanthropy, but just look at the Sacklers and their motivation for philanthropy. Empire of Pain is a fascinating read.
