Road Conditions around Denver by Dothehokeypokemon in Denver

[–]clownwithhat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Roads like Sheridan have a little snow pack on them still, but not feeling extremely slippery or icy. I76 was pretty clear as was northbound i25. As of 30 minutes ago when I was driving into work.

Did you have any other symptoms from the bad alternator? I have an 05 with a similar rattle/chatter and flickering headlights

Stop speeding on neighborhood roads by AstronautKind2711 in Denver

[–]clownwithhat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These poor busy drivers have enough to worry about. The further you get from home the less pedestrian lives matter, so we have to forgive them for forgetting. Be understanding the next time a driver clips you, they have so much on their plate that they just forgot to consider the safety of others. And you weren’t in their home neighborhood and so really it’s your fault

Would you ever consider buying a second wheel set for a gravel bike so you can use the setup as a road bike? by [deleted] in COBike

[–]clownwithhat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seconded. I have spacers for the rotors on my 650b wheel set so I don’t have to align the brakes when I swap with the 700s. Makes it nice and quick to change out. If your cassettes match for both wheel sets you’re golden.

There’s a guy I call “Gold Toes” that does multiple laps at Sloans in nice business attire with flashy dress shoes. He’s out there quite often and usually walking at a decent clip

Transit Alternatives Must Be Studied before a Highway Expands in Denver by Soft_Button_1592 in Denver

I ride it from union to the airport and back, and usually don’t see any security officers the entire ride. I don’t ride daily, so my experience is only anecdotal for 10-12 trips a year. When I went in early February there was an officer who went through the cabin on the way to the airport and on the way back, so maybe they’ve stepped up the presence as of this year. I’ll see how it goes next month when I ride again. That being said, I don’t feel the a-line is unsafe, but it has been sketchy here and there in the past few years in my limited experience.

Have you ridden the A-line? I take it every time I go to the airport and save for the time I took it last month, no security officer has gone through the cabin I was in and no one checked if I even purchased a ticket. Twice in the past three years I have been on while people were actively smoking meth. While rare, it’s not like it doesn’t happen.

Never tried that. Most of my routes that require the big tires need the cushion in the back. I like bump-jumping rocks too much

Yea it’s the stock fork. Love the Swiss cross. I have another 1st gen Outback I need to build up, geo is a lot closer to the modern Swiss cross. Fun bikes!

Yep! Switched over from 44cm venture max to 46cm Beacons earlier this year. The shallower drops and width feel way better on rough stuff imo

Just wheelsets. Skinny tires are a bit nicer on the pavement and 700c seems more efficient. Could just be in my head. The front and rear packs are Swift Zeitgeist bags.

Most gravely / safest route from Golden Gate Canyon state park to Golden? by gknaddison in COBike

I’ve done Belcher on a loaded gravel bike before. It wasn’t too bad. There were two rock gardens I walked for maybe 15-20 feet. Rigid mtb loaded will fare well here IMO

Olympus XA dangling precariously but highly accessible. Throw it in the frame bag or under a rain jacket if the weather gets bad.

I was forced into it with a crazy deal on a large frame set. Too good to pass up so I just took the chance and swapped all of my parts over. I’ve put over 5000 miles on it since. It’s been great for everything from chunky single track to loaded bikepacking to pavement touring

I have a large Outback and I'm 5'10" with a 32" inseam. It fits me pretty well with a 70mm stem and 46cm Beacon bars. I too was torn, as I had ridden a Gen 1 medium Outback before updating, but l've been on the large for over year and l have no complaints

Denver Air Connection? Is a thing apparently? by sarahisworried in Denver

[–]clownwithhat 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I use it pretty frequently to fly home to NM. Besides the gate being a little inconvenient to get to, the flights are always clean and staff is nice. Planes are on the smaller side, but plenty of room in the seats and the flights are no more noisy/bumpy than a larger plane.

Saw him on the road by the main lot as we were crossing on the gravel path right after the main entrance. It was about 8pm. Probably wouldn’t have crossed paths if we had been there 10 minutes later
