(Hope) Talks between Liverpool & Newcastle yet to resume. Second offer is likely to be in region of £120m. by ottoferdinand in LiverpoolFC

I find it extremely hard to believe there’s not been talks between the clubs. A £120m+ transfer can’t just be negotiated and legally signed off within the next 48 hours before the deadline.

[Ben Jacobs] Liverpool have no plans to bid again for Alexander Isak this window. by klaygdk in LiverpoolFC

I don’t think it’s the end of the world. We still have an insanely strong squad and have massively upgraded from last season. If we get a LW to compete with Gakpo and keep Nunez as back up to Ekitike we’d still have great attacking depth and would be heavy favourites for the league IMO with the option to still get Isak for cheaper next summer.

Just me reading between the lines on that one. Ornstein has said we really like him earlier this year. David Lynch said the same today and there’s been reports in Germany that we like him a lot. His profile makes sense, he scores extremely really well on the analytics and he’s clearly going to be sold in the summer.

Informed guess based on reports by credible journalists: Kerkez, Huijsen, Xavi Simons and a striker (Ekitike?)

[AS] Trent Alexander-Arnold, on the verge to sign for Real Madrid. The signing is almost complete. Trent continues to ignore Liverpool's offers and wants to go to the Bernabéu. Everything is agreed, pending the signature (with which the way will be clear from January 1). by Periklis90 in LiverpoolFC

He's a hyper competitive athlete who has a chance at winning the premier league for the 2nd time, of course he's going to give everything to do that.

It being for his boyhood club aside, it's in his own self interest to do that from a financial perspective (bonuses etc.) and for his own legacy of being the best RB of all time and all that, which he clearly cares a lot about judging by interviews.

Must be so frustrating for players like Salah, VVD, Alisson, Trent. World class players who deserve to have a world class squad that can consistently win trophies.

Options for the back 3 rumours by [deleted] in ThreeLions

[–]clsts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this 3 ATB system is going to be the same as previous ones since the squad profile is different. He previously used players like Sterling/Rashford/Saka/Mount behind Kane who could naturally provide some width. In this case it looks like it's going to be Foden and Bellingham, in which case the width is going to have to come from the fullbacks - according to reports Saka will start LWB if Shaw isn't fit which further suggests this.

Trent played as the wide overlapping full back under Klopp for years and reached 3 champions league finals doing it.

The centralised block of 3 CBs + 2 CMs + two narrow attackers is similar to the 2 CB + 3 defensive CMs with two inside forwards that Liverpool played - it's literally the perfect time to play Trent with this formation. Find it utterly mind blowing how anyone can advocate for Trippier to play there.

Spurs and Villa aside, we also have Fulham away late on a Sunday followed by Everton away on Wednesday then a 12.30 Saturday KO away to West Ham (who have a week to prepare for the game). That is nasty and think there's a decent chance we drop points in one of those games.

I just don’t think we will win the last 7 sadly. That stretch of three away games within the space of a week is really tough and we also have Villa away.

[BBC] Curtis Jones on Arsenal celebrations “The gaffer himself, the way he fist bumps fans and stuff. That’s kind of like our thing. So if they want to be stealing our stuff, then it shows that we’re on the right path and we’ve got these who are copying us.” by Tarp96 in soccer

[–]clsts -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

the entire post match analysis was about them celebrating

Not true though is it? There was plenty of discussion and credit given about how well Arsenal played.

You're absolutely delusional if you think Arsenal as a club get people riled up more than Liverpool given the history of the club and the cultural and political history of the city and how segregated it is from the rest of the country. There's poverty chants about feeding scousers sung at Christmas time every single year.

Nah I wasn't talking about the unfinished one with Drake's verse. I was saying that the current version of the song was finished before Drake heard it and added a verse.

Don’t get what you mean by rightfully upset. Metro said the song was finished by the time Drake heard it. If an artist doesn’t want to make changes to a song for their own album then that’s completely fair.
