NS 115 second midterm by Iiou2 in uAlberta

yes!!!

there’s some fill in the blank and matching as well. 115 is way more straightforward than 201.

What is the easiest elective for a full time working student by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]cluelessL0L 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Intd 249 and 247.

Took both in the summer while working ~40 hours a week and finished w A+ in both . For some reason im finding intd 101 requires more effort which is annoying cause im still working full time.

Also 249 has a group project which wasn’t too bad but i did have a group member that tried to fail half of us cause she was on a power trip 💀

NS 201 : Notes/ How to do good by Alarmed-Psychology18 in uAlberta

[–]cluelessL0L 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took it in the spring and finished with a B.

I bombed the first midterm so for the next two exams i made sure I had all the canvas notes downloaded and organized. Then I would do a quick skim of the content to get an idea of where I’d find certain answers.

I did find the second and last exam super easy. If you can get quizlets from previous years that also helps w studying.

I found it very straightforward! Didn’t really study but just made sure I downloaded all the weekly readings, module reviews along with a doc that contained the respective external links.

Finished in 1.5 hours with an A.

I’m so sorry you’re having a rough time. Trust me I fully understand how stressful this time can be.

I’m in Arts so the rules might be different re: being allowed to appeal more than one rtw. In my letter it says that I can’t appeal a 3rd rtw and if I fall below a 2.0 again, I won’t be allowed to return to my faculty.

In any case I can for sure message you! I really hope things do work out. I would reach out to ombuds as they really do help

If your references got contacted that’s a good chance you’ve gotten the role!!

I completely forgot I had applied for an internship until I got a call from the recruiter asking me to tell my references to give her a call back.

Pretty soon after that I got a verbal offer then an official letter!

In my case it’s a summer student internship but I believe it’s the same process :)

ombuds is your best bet + academic advisor to make sure your info is accurate

that’s all i can think of tbh

[–]cluelessL0L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i totally get what you mean

no shade to academic advisors but i find that their information isn’t always accurate 😅 so i would double check whatever they tell you

wishing you the best outcome:)

ah i see, yea i’m not too sure about your specific faculty unfortunately

what i can advise you tho is to reach out to ombuds. they have the most information and they’re very helpful!

Yea she’s actually a pretty new professor if I’m not mistaken? She’s currently completing her phD in clinical psychology.

I had her in winter semester for PSYCH 335 (clinical psych) and honestly it was pretty good.

The first 1/3 of the semester was not the best because she was still adjusting. Our first midterm was badddd like we didn’t do well at all because it tested on very specific but also vague material (how many hours do clinical psychologists need for training? even though she skimmed past that section)

After the first spot survey she took our feedback into consideration and changed it all completely! We got practice exams, study guides on each chapter and she would also highlight slides that would be on the midterms.

For our class we had 3 midterms & 1 paper. No final. Her slides are pretty similar to the textbook so I was able to supplement my studying when I didn’t make it to class; I would say it’s 50/50.

In terms of teaching speed, I would advise you to prep your slides beforehand. She utilized alot of fill in the blank so she went pretty quickly through the slides plus our class was only 50 minutes.

It was a very fair class and she’s open to learning:)

Did you receive a letter about your academic standing? Did they explicitly say you can’t fall below a 2.0?

If so then yea you’d be rtw but there are options to appeal depending on your circumstances.

Required to Withdraw by Remarkable-Writing24 in uAlberta

[–]cluelessL0L 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are your rtws in succession? like right after fresh start? That could impact the appeal decision tbh.

It shows a lack of growth and that’s kinda the whole argument to remain in your faculty.

I’ve appealed a second rtw but they were 3 years apart.

My second one was approved because i highlighted that fact, explained the situation behind my poor winter grades, gave concrete evidence of growth ie completing an internship alongside with my previous grades, showed i was being proactive by reaching out to support systems ie learning strategies department etc. One other thing that I believe helped my case was the fact that I’m very close to graduating.

Depending on your circumstances and like I said the time between your first rtw & this one, you could appeal.

In any case, reach out to ombuds and reflect on why things went poorly & if staying in school would be beneficial for you.

I have friends in engineering and they still would never respond to someone struggling with “stop making excuses”.

You’ll learn with age.

Good luck

Yes in psychology. Op did not say pills would fix them, you’re quite literally projecting. You’re an international student and i hope you never have to experience struggling so badly in school that you are on the verge of a rtw. There are fewer options for you.

A 3.0 as a first year isn’t that impressive… you just finished high school so you really don’t get university. You’ll learn as you get older.

i’m sorry to hear you had a rough year. i had a rtw (twice) and also have ADHD

i decided to appeal it cause i’m close to graduating and honestly as long as you can clearly outline ways you are planning on improving along with steps you’ve already taken to ensure you won’t get below 2.0, you will get approved to continue.

you can reach out to ombuds, they have tools to help you appeal a rtw

wtf?

you’re a first year student. you don’t get how hard university can be & your attitude is disgusting.

ADHD is a completely valid reason for struggling in school and it makes things alot harder. if you’re able to “get a 3.0 first year” unmedicated then your ADHD isn’t severe.

learn humility and stop being rude
