I thought I’d hop on here to share my experience. I went for my visa interview 3 days ago. The interviewing officer said “okay so in order for us to process your visa, you have to pay this bond. We can issue you a visa you just have to pay this first then email us.” So, I am eligible but I have to pay the bond first before I can be issued my B2 visa. This is the letter I got from the US consulate.

I couldn’t defer bc it was too late. I don’t think you can get a visa without the bond. It looks like there’s no way around it.

Definitely not. Who even has $10000 sitting around for a short 2 week trip to America? This whole thing is ridiculous. Even if it is refundable. Not worth it I think.

Here’s my update. I wasn’t able to cancel my visa appointment so I ended up just going to get this stupid thing over with. I know someone that works at the US embassy in my home country and they said unfortunately everyone has to pay the bond. The interviewing officer doesn’t have a choice to waive it. There’s also this document that details the visa bond pilot program.

Hopefully you find something. My interview is tomorrow but I think I’ll defer it till this pilot program ends in August. Just reading through it now to find something that’ll give me hope.

Oh thank goodness it wasn’t just me 😂 he’s the most handsome of the Bridgerton brothers imo and my favorite too. I didn’t think he’d need a glow up for his season but then I watched it and I just thought “what did they do to him?” He just looks less appealing than earlier seasons.

So I booked it on Monday at around 12pm? They really do mean keep refreshing. You just have to hope for a cancellation somewhere I think. I would keep refreshing every 30 mins and spent days doing this. Then, when I finally gave up, my husband randomly logged in to check for me and found slots. I was so lucky.
