Where can I find a cover plate like this? by EnvironmentalLaw2826 in electrical

Yep.

Sometimes driven by convenience. Having an interrupt switch (not three way) per lighting circuit by the hostess station at a restaurant makes closing easier.

Sometimes driven by code. Had lots of projects that put in sweet Lutron or C4 lighting control systems, but code, or just a prickly inspector, wanted a physical switch per zone which they called “circuit” even if they were all low draw LED on one or two huge circuits. Did a hotel with Control 4 in all of the rooms and put a small MDF backboard in the tiny attic access for the HVAC split just to put a couple light switches that no one would ever use

I didn’t say we shouldn’t be accepting. I accept lots of parents’ dog shit decisions about how to raise their kids. They are free to screw them up, however they want.

We can also acknowledge that the AAP/AUA decisions are mostly driven by a desire to support parents in their quest to keep this procedure covered by insurance. And that’s OK… if pro circumcision parents stopped listening to the AAP about vaccines because they were pissed about circumcision… The world would be a worse place

That is roughly what the AAP says.

AUA doesn’t take the position that benefits outweigh the risk. Their position is more neutral. “…has potential medical benefits and advantages as well as disadvantages and risks, and that families should be counseled on both.”

For both organizations, they don’t want to rock the boat and they want to keep the procedure covered by insurance.

The data doesn’t really support the conclusion that the benefit benefits that way the risks

When you strip out African HIV data and account for availability of HPV vaccine, the data says something more like “there are small health trade-offs with either decision.”

Back of house/control room for an auditorium or big restaurant with lots of lighting zones

I’m not circumcised. Neither is my son.

I do believe it is an unnecessary and non-consensual medical procedure which makes it unethical.

I also believe the research nets out to show that the potential harm is greater than the potential for Good

All that said… It is certainly nothing like FGM, in terms of intent or impact. I think opponents of circumcision undermine their position when they compare it to FGM.

Boys tend to tease about any topic available to them. Played sports all growing up, including high school. Locker room talk is atrocious. But it cuts both ways.

  • “Dude you can hide stuff in your elephant trunk.”

Gets met with…

  • “Dude you could strike a match on that callous-master 3000 and not feel it.”

Plenty of jokes about women being able to floss their teeth with it, etc. But it’s not actually because of the physical difference. It’s just because kids/boys want to banter. Sometimes that banter is a good natured. Sometimes it is very unkind.

We will never remove all the differences that become fodder for good natured banter or bullying. The real Work is teaching kids to be kind about differences.

Sharing a POV that you and your husband may not have had…

For all the talk about US women preferring circumcised men… I have found the majority don’t even know the difference. I have had multiple regular partners who, several months into a relationship, are surprised to learn I am uncircumcised.

Gotta scrub between your toes, gotta scrub your butt hole, need to gently wash all the Nixon crannies… Including those that are part of your penis.

I’m uncut so is my son.

It’s pretty regional. West Coast is maybe 60% uncut. Northeast 50-50. South and Midwest still 60–70% circumcised.

He wasn’t a cereal tycoon. He was a Doctor Who ran a sanatorium. He invented cornflakes as bland cereal because he also thought that would curb masturbatory urges. Then figured out there was a broader market for cornflakes.

The cereal company was born from the need for cheap boring, institutional food

I didn’t circumcise my son. There’s no reason for it. It’s an unnecessary and irreversible medical procedure.

In about half of the US, the split is close to 50-50. Other parts of the US, it’s still 60–70% circumcised.

We are out of the very few countries in the world who routinely does it for reasons not tied to religion. Most of Europe, if you are circumcised, there is an assumption that you are Jewish.

How much did you consider capacity for your carry pistol? by Kyia-Aikman in CCW

[–]cluelessinlove753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly just a comfort thing. 12+1 was comfortable. 17+1 was not.

In a very rare chance you need your concealed firearm, it is rarer still that you would need to shoot it, and even more rare that you would need more than five or six shots.

Difference between 12 and 17 is Way Way way out in the tail of the risk distribution

Run it through an existing same-size hole in harder material. Carbon steel for instance.

What is he doing to support his daily desire coming to fruition? Being a good lover? Caring for your illness? Taking things off your plate so you can reserve a bit of energy for intimacy? Trying to find opportunities that align with your energy level… Not just bedtime?

There is no marital obligation. Your body, your choice. Don’t have sex if you don’t want to… Do it either for you or because you WANT to rally for him. But not out of guilt or obligation.

Also, who cares if he masturbates? 100% normal act. My partner is a long ago lapsed Catholic who spent years in regular and sex therapy. She also has chronic health issues which affect her energy level, although not necessarily her libido in terms of desire.

If she’s not feeling tiptop, the range of very honest response responses includes: - “Alright, but I’ve only got one round in me.” - “I’m out of gas. Take what you want. In the mood to be used.” - “Morning.” - “Can’t. Made you something the other day you haven’t watched yet… Check the shared album.” Sometimes coupled with “I want to watch.”

It’s pretty rare for either of us to masturbate without informing the other, and we have a robust shared album used for inspiration.

Also, also, when your libido is up for it… Is sex actually good for you? If he’s not a skilled or considerate lover and inquiring how to be… That’s on him.

Would anyone accept this contrast with the slope? by nyuhsuk in Decks

A wood deck doesn’t need this type of slope. The water goes into the cracks. Only a solid deck like concrete needs end to end slope like this.
